3 Five areas of knowledge: Oral and Written Communication Scientific Inquiry, Methodologies, and Quantitative Skills World's Historical, Literary, and Philosophical Traditions Global Awareness, Cultural Diversity, and the World's Artistic Traditions Social and Self-Awareness and Responsible Citizenship

4 The goals of University Studies: develop students' communication skills, both oral and written encourage students to think creatively while gathering, analyzing, and evaluating information to reach logical decisions

5 The goals of University Studies: familiarize students with the roles and applications of science and mathematics toward resolving problems in an ever-changing world gain a critical understanding of the world's historical, literary, philosophical, and artistic traditions

10 All Students Take: ENG 105 COM 161 Lab Science Mathematics Other University Studies Courses ENG 105 may NOT be a first-semester course in your program. Many programs prefer students to take this course in the spring. Your ADVISOR will know which courses are right for you and your program.

13 Honors Seminars or ENG 150 – 1-2 University Studies Science with Lab University Studies Mathematics Modern Language All Honors students MUST take at least one Honors seminar per semester until the Honors Sequence is completed. Honors Program: Inform your Advisor that you are in the Honors Program as soon as you arrive for advising!

14 Test Scores and Placement Placement scores are in your Summer O Booklet and on record with your Advisor. Pending scores will be delivered after this session. You will be advised based on the scores that are available today. Your Advisor knows what courses you need to succeed!

15 RACR: Racer Academic Completion Report If you were given a RACR today, take it to your Advising Session – RACR is on myGate Academics tab

16 http://15tofinishky.org Register for 14-17 credit hours per semester Most students may register for up to 19 hours MINIMUM is 12 hours/semester for full- time status (12/semester will not get you to graduation in 4 years!) Your advisor will have a PLAN.

18 Center for Academic Success Website www.murraystate.edu/cas CAS provides advising and services for Undeclared and Conditionally Admitted students. Undeclared students will need to determine an AREA or MAJOR by 45 credit hours. Specially Trained Academic Advisors help Undeclared students chart their course.
