5 Why? n giving and receiving n demanding work n accompanying those who suffer n accompanying those who grieve n maintaining hope n sustain the joy and passion and soul

6 Looking after ourselves n regular time off n regular time to discuss patients and problems n know how to get help n ongoing training and supervision n take time to reflect n recognise that multiple losses are inevitably stressful n make time to relax together

7 Looking after each other n culture of nurturing n recognition of difference n appreciation of difference n non-judgemental attitudes n holistic care for each other as well as those we seek to work alongside

10 Action plan n A time for everything under the sun – To cry and to laugh – To mourn and to dance – To be quiet and to speak……. Ecclesiastes n Write a prescription!!

11 Reflections n Why motivated you to come into palliative care? n What motivates you now? n Think of a patient who inspired you / challenged you early in your career / experience n Tell him/her what you have accomplished as a caregiver n What would his/her reply be?
