What is the shape? * Basic Shapes: - Triangle -Polygon determinated by three straight lines that cut two by two in three points.
3
-Classification of the triangles: By the length of its sides: -Equilateral triangle: three sides of the same length. -Isosceles triangle: two sides of the same length. -Scalene triangle: all sides of different length.
4
-Classification of the triangles: By the amplitude of their angles: -Triangle rectangle: Straight inner angle (=90º) - Obtuse-angled triangle: one angle obtuse (>90º) -Acute-angled triangle: three angles equal (<90º)
5
-Square -Polygon that have the four equal sides an the four angles (=90º). -Rectangle -Polygon that hace four sides equal in pairs. -Circle -Geometric place of the points of the place whose distance to another fixed point, called center, is smaller or just as the length of the radius.
6
Derivative Shapes Dome - From semicircle. - It’s a structural element of architecture that resembles the hollow upper half of a sphere. - Domes have been constructed from a variety of building materials: stone, wood, brick, concrete, metal, glass and plastic.
7
Pyramid - From triangle. -It’s a building where the other surfaces are triangular and converge at a point. -Properties: The base of a pyramid can be trilateral, or any polygon shape. The pyramid with square base is a common version.
8
Cube -From square. -It’s a polyhedron of six congruent square faces, one of the so-called Platonic solids. - Properties: All their faces are parallel sides, and even as a prism of square base and height equal to the side of the base.
9
Parallelepiped - From rectangle. - It´s a polyhedron of six faces, in which all faces are parallelograms, parallel and equal in pairs. - Its properties are similar to the cube but the only difference is that the height is half of the base.
10
Fundamental Structural Elements -Beam -Is a linear construction element that works mainly in bending. Is usually horizontal. -Column -Is a vertical architectonic piece and of extended form that serves, generally, to maintain the weight of the structure
