3 What causes earthquakes to occur? To begin with, plates shift and bump into each other along the way. Earthquakes occur on faults. They occur when they move and shift. Sometimes, on occasion, volcanoes erupt so hard that they shake the ground and cause an earthquake.

4 What are the locations and dates of famous earthquakes? In addition, in India, there was one in 1897. Another one was in San Francisco in 1906. There was also one in Long Beach California in 1933. Another one was in Alaska in 1964. One was in Loma Pieta in 1989. The most recent one was in Beijing, China in 2008.

5 How do earthquakes affect people on earth? More over, people can die. Buildings and houses get destroyed. Animals Can die. Fires can start. If houses are on faults can split in half. And, people can study them.

6 What are ways people measure the strength or severity of earthquakes? People measure the severity and strength of earthquakes by using a seismograph. Seismographs detect seismo waves and make big and little humps and bumps. The small ones are better and the big ones are bad.
