1. Converting Between Units of Pressure
There are many different units of pressure used in chemistry. You must be able to use all of them and convert between them. Here they are:
atmospheres (symbol = atm)
millimeters of mercury (symbol = mm Hg) now called torrs
kilopascals (symbol = kPa)
Conversions:
1 atm = mm Hg = torr = kPa
You need to know:
‘STP’ means Standard Temperature and Pressure. At STP, one mole of gas occupies 22.4 L.
Standard Temperature: 0°C/ 273K
Standard Pressure: 1 atm/760 mmHg/760 Torr

A constant volume of oxygen is heated from 100C to 185C. The initial pressure is 4.1 atm. What is the final pressure?
