1 Building the RTI Infrastructure: One District’s Blueprint Heather Cummings Director of Curriculum Governor Wentworth Regional School District

2 GWRSD: A snapshot of who we are  Governor Wentworth Regional School District serves the towns of Brookfield, Effingham, New Durham, Ossipee, Tuftonboro and Wolfeboro.  We have six elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and the Region 9 Vocational-Technical Education Center.  Our total student enrollment is currently just under 2500.

5 Seven Guiding Principles of RTI Adapted from Heartland Iowa Area Education Agency  ALL students are part of one proactive educational system.  Scientific, research-based instruction is used.  Instructionally relevant, valid and reliable assessments serve different purposes.  Use a problem-solving method to base decisions on a continuum of student needs.  Data guide instructional decisions.  Staff receive professional development, follow-up modeling, and coaching to ensure effectiveness and fidelity at all levels of instruction.  Leadership is vital.

11 Principle #6: Staff receive professional development, follow-up modeling, and coaching to ensure effectiveness and fidelity at all levels of instruction Summer 2009: RTI Summer Institute Fall 2009 : Assess/Develop/ Strengthen RTI Teams at each school March 2010: District- wide RTI Retreat (elementary) Fall 2010: RTI Cohort Reunion June 2010: Core Curriculum revision (math and reading) and selection of tier 2 & 3 math intervention pilot 2010-2011 School Year: Implementation of revised core curriculum (math and reading; K-8); Resources assessed February 2011: District-wide RTI Retreat (elementary) Fall 2011: Full implementation of revised core curriculum and tier 2 & 3 math interventions Presently: Reviewing Integrity Rubric (NCRTI) to assess progress with RTI; Middle and High School models
