William Jefferson Clinton The Wild Bill Story

1992 Election

Why Clinton? Bush’s administration was marred by the recession. Clinton was young and appealed to the young voters. His saxophone stunt on the Arsenio Hall show won over many young folks. Ross Perot had run as well however, at the last moment he told his supporters to vote for Clinton.

America is Hopeful Clinton promised to reform health care, the budget, and slow the rising crime and drug problem in America. Americans are excited to have a young family in the White House. Bill, Hillary, and their daughter Chelsea are a fresh breath of youth in Washington.

The Beginning

Health Care Reform Hillary Clinton shows the nation that she will follow in the foot steps of Nancy Reagan. She will not sit quietly by as First Lady. Hillary charges into the Legislature arguing for tough Health Care Reform. However, Republicans control the legislature and they defeat the Clinton’s attempts at reform.

Hillary Rodham at Work

Domestic Policy Clinton gets tough on gun control Clinton helps congress to balance the budget for the first time in many years. The debt continues to grow however. The surplus was used to pay down the 5 trillion dollar debt. Clinton tackles welfare reform by limiting the amount of money states could receive.

NAFTA Clinton tries to improve America’s economic system by creating a trade partnership between Mexico, Canada, and the US. The North American Free Trade Agreement reduced trade restrictions and allowed businesses to move freely between the three nations. Cheap labor from Mexico drove many American businesses out. Americans lost jobs. NAFTA fails to make good on its promises.

NAFTA

Attacking the President Newt Gingrich, a legislator in Washington, began a Republican movement to slow down Clinton’s reforms. Republicans won a majority of Congressional seats in 1994. They fought Clinton into a deadlock. For several days the entire Federal Government closed down because of the gridlock between Clinton and Congress.

1996 Clinton wins reelection against former Senator Bob Dole despite growing rumors of Clinton’s possible involvement in scandals such the White Water real estate scandal. The Monica Lewinski scandal blows up in 1998. Clinton supposedly had an affair with White House Intern Monica Lewinski. Clinton under Oath denies involvement. However, testimony, phone records, and other data suggest otherwise. Congress impeaches Clinton on 2 counts. The Senate fails to get a majority vote to convict Clinton.

Lewinski Scandal

Clinton says he is sorry on Live T.V The Kenneth Starr report tells all of the nasty details of the affair

Foreign Policy Clinton sends US soldiers into former Yugoslavia to keep peace and to halt ethnic cleansing Clinton send soldiers into Somalia to force war lords into sharing food and relief aid with starving citizens.-----disaster

Somalia The people needed our help, but most didn’t want it. Our soldiers are attacked, missions go bad. Two US helicopters are shot down and rescue missions to save them meet with disaster. Hollywood makes “Black Hawk Down” to portray the mistakes made in Somalia

Somalia

Today the Somali people live in utter anarchy despite attempts by the international community to help them. The people are still ruled by thugs, terrorists, and criminals. Many have turned to piracy to make a living.

1993 World Trade Center In 1993, Osama Bin Laden makes his name known when his terrorist organization attempts to destroy the World Trade Center with a massive truck bomb. Many people are injured and many die but the towers stand. Osama vows to try again Clinton’s response was to drop a few bombs on terrorist training camps in Africa. He decides not to pursue bin Laden

Prelude to the Future

Ground Zero The truck bomb went off in the parking garage destroying several floors

2000 Election Vice President Al Gore George W. Bush

The Craziest Election Ever? On the day of the election everyone knew it would be a close race. However, not a single individual could have predicted just how close that race would be. Usually the winner is predicted by around 9pm to 10 pm on the evening news.---Not this time!

Florida It seemed that we had a tie. Whichever man won the state of Florida would be the winner. Florida’s votes were so close that both sides demanded a recounting of the votes.

The Winner!

How? Gore and Bush went to the Supreme Court. Bush had been declared the winner by a slim margin. Gore demanded another recount. The Supreme Court said no. That was the end of it. Voting systems had to change. We have to get rid of the old punch card style. It is too questionable!

Bush In Charge! No Child Left Behind Education Program Tax cuts War On Terror with the attacks by Al Qeida and the Taliban Heavy Recession Invasion of Iraq to hunt for weapons of Mass Destruction = WMD’S Bush wins 2004 Re-election because of War on Terror
