1 Fizzy Balloons Investigating gases! Chemical Sciences Year 5

2 The aim of this investigation is to explore the chemical effects of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar when they are combined!

3 To inform others of your findings you must CREATE a Scientific Report. Please include: Aim Hypothesis Equipment or Apparatus Steps Results Conclusion Use your digital camera to record your results!

4 Develop your hypothesis! What do you think will happen?

5 Conduct your experiment! 1.Fill a plastic bottle half way up with white vinegar. 2.Using a teaspoon and a funnel, place 5 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda into the balloon. 3.Twist the top of the balloon to ensure no bicarbonate of soda escapes. 4.Stretch the top of the balloon over the top of the plastic bottle. Untwist the balloon and allow the vinegar to fall into the vinegar. 5.Observe and record the reaction. Equipment or Apparatus 600ml plastic bottle White vinegar Bicarbonate of soda Balloons A teaspoon A funnel Digital camera
