Values that build Strong Families Let there be Life!

1. The Value of Life “You shall not murder” Ex 20:13 Genesis 1:26-27 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

1. The Value of Life “…to murder is to take away someone’s life. That, simply, is beyond our authority...God is the only one authorized to give life and to take life away” Jay John, The Ten Commandments, pg 130-131

1. The Value of Life Some Questions about this Commandment? Refers to the killing of human life only The Issue of War in the OT –C–Complex –H–Historical Setting –D–Deuteronomy 20:10 –T–The OT in view of the NT –A–A last resort Just as God values life, we also actively value the life of every person.

2. Anger Management Quotes on Anger The fastest horse cannot catch a word spoken in anger. (Chinese Proverb) “To cut the root of anger is to wither the tree of human evil.” (Dallas Willard) Whatever is begun in anger ends in shame. (B. Franklin) Angry cynical people die young. Men who score high for hostility on standard tests are four times more likely to die prematurely than men whose scores are low. (Bottom Line, quoted in Homemade)

2. Anger Management Quotes on Anger Getting angry can sometimes be like leaping into a wonderfully responsive sports car, gunning the motor, taking off at high speed and then discovering the brakes are out of order. (Maggie Scarg in New York Times Magazine) Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret. You cannot shake hands with a clenched fist. Many a day has been saddened and darkened by an angry word.

2. Anger Management Quotes on Anger "Anger makes you smaller, while forgiveness forces you to grow beyond what you were." Over the long run, love’s power to forgive is stronger than hate’s power to get even.

2. Anger Management Matt 5:21-22 21"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

2. Anger Management Ephesians 4 29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

2. Anger Management Stop, channel that anger towards God. Deal with disagreements as they occur. Avoid grudges and seek to live a life of forgiveness. Always seek the way of peace and love as God would have you to do. If anger management is an issue, then please get some help. Replace hatred, anger and bitterness with the compassion, love and forgiveness.

2. Anger Management “Anyone can be angry – that is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose and in the right way – that is not easy” Aristotle Just as God values life, we also actively value the life of every person

3. The Societal Challenges Euthanasia “The literal meaning is ‘dying well’ but the term has come to mean the intentional medical termination of a person’s life” Jay John “Christianity teaches that life is valuable from the moment of conception and that the child in the womb expresses consciousness, pain and humanness” Jay John

John 10 7Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. 11"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Just as God values life, we also actively value the life of every person

The bread and juice represent the body and blood of Christ sacrificially given for you. Allow them to speak to you of Christ's love and prayerfully renew your commitment to live for Him. We encourage you to thoughtfully and prayerfully eat and drink in memory of Christ in your own time or as the leader may direct. Communion is a unique time for Christ followers to celebrate and remember Jesus together. If you love Christ we invite you to join us in partaking of the bread and juice as Jesus commanded us to do.
