Dance Team Purpose: The purpose of the WFHS Dance Team program is to promote school spirit and a positive school climate through performances and activities deemed appropriate by the WFHS Dance Team coaches. The WFHS Dance Team members are expected to be positive role models.
3
Dance Team Rules: Academic: All members must maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 passing 5/7 classes at the end of each 6- week period. Behavioral: All members must treat EVERYONE with respect. We have a “No Drama” policy! Members must not present themselves in any manner unfavorable, questionable, illegal, or in such a way as to bring discredit, dishonor, or disgrace to their peers, themselves, or the dance team organization. Any member violating these rules will be subject to disciplinary actions ranging from probation-dismissal from the team.
4
Dance Team Rules: Practices: All members are required to attend all scheduled practices. Practice dress code is required at all times. More information regarding practice dress code will be given after the team has been announced. No cell phone use is allowed at practice. Dancers must be picked up from practice promptly and it is not the responsibility of older dancers to drive your dancer home. Performances: All members must be present at all basketball games. Members must stay for the entirety of the game. Each member is responsible for making their own transportation arrangements to & from the games. * Please note, all members will perform at basketball games.
5
Dance Team Rules: Attendance: All members are required to attend all scheduled practices, performances, competitions & fundraisers. The Coach may add additional appearances when necessary. If absent from school, a dancer may not perform at that day’s performance should there be one. If a dancer is injured, she is still expected to be at all events. Unexcused absences can result in disciplinary action from probation to removal from the team. *In the event a dancer should miss one of the above mentioned events, the coach must be notified in advance. Having another teammate pass along the information is unacceptable. To be considered a medically excused absence, the coach must receive a medical note written by a doctor or have been seen and sent home by the school nurse. See coach for questions about other excused absences.
6
Dance Team Rules: If any questions arise concerning these rules, either from the dance members or their parents, the coach should be contacted immediately for clarification of the matter. Nothing should be assumed or taken for granted. The coaches or administrators may make exceptions or changes to these rules at any time. The coach also has discretion to amend rules when deemed appropriate.
7
Lettering Policy To receive a varsity dance letter, each dancer must actively participate in at least 90 % of all dance team activities including, but not limited to: practices, performances, fundraisers, summer camp, competitions, spring show, etc. *Coach has the discretion to award or not reward letters for any reason.
