Reading Reading is a complex transaction-a- meaning making process in which the reader negotiates meaning in order to comprehend or create an interpretation.
Responding Readers respond to the reading in order to deepen their comprehension. This is a tentative and exploratory explanation, but it is important to clarify and elaborate on their thinking about the text. Response can take many forms: brainstorming, journal writing, small and whole group discussions
Exploring Reader go back to the text to explore it more analytically. The activities at this stage require readers to reread parts of the text
Applying Readers deepen their interpretations and reflect on their understanding as they create a wide variety of writing, acting, visual, speaking and research projects.
