2 OCDEL’s Mission The Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) promotes opportunities for all Pennsylvania children and families by building systems and providing supports that help ensure access to high quality child and family services. 17 New children served in FY 08-09 Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts - additional $12.5 million to reach 1,000 more children and to respond to parent requests that some half-day programs be extended to full-day (12,000 total). Keystone STARS – $4.8 million increase will allow programs to provide higher quality early education to 170,000 children. Child Care Works Subsidized Child Care Program –$6.9 million increase will serve an additional 2,600 children, allowing services to 235,000 children total. Early Intervention - expansion will serve 1,450 more infants & toddlers (32,600 infants and toddlers total) and an additional 1,480 preschoolers (44,900 preschoolers total). Nurse Family Partnership – $1 million increase will serve up to an additional 240 families (up to 4,200 families total). Moving ahead: 2008-2009
