Timekeeper Monitors time for each phase of protocol Gives one-minute warnings

Recorder Remains neutral Supports facilitator Records basic ideas Uses participants’ language Asks group for corrections Writes legibly and large Makes sure team’s feedback sheet is turned in to leadership

Protocol Walkthrough Step 1: Predicting the results Purpose: Surfacing experiences, possibilities, and expectations With what assumptions are we entering? What are some predictions we are making? What are some questions we are asking? What are some possibilities for learning that this experience presents us? Take notes in the space provided on the Individual Recording Sheet

Protocol Walkthrough Step 2: Observe the data Purpose: to simply describe what you see—no conclusions or recommendations—just observation Note important points that “pop out” Note patterns or trends that emerge Note surprising or unexpected data Note things we have not explored Just the facts, Ma’am! Take notes in the space provided

Protocol Walkthrough Step 3: Interpret Data/Develop Inferences Purpose: to look beyond the obvious Draw inferences - supported Generate possible explanations Generate further questions to ask Further data needed to verify explanations What can you infer about the data regarding the impact on student learning? Take notes in space provided

Protocol Walkthrough Step 4: Implications for practice Purpose: to make connections to what is missing, what needs to change, and what is working Focus on practices for improving student learning What issues have been raised about school-wide practices? Take notes in the space provided

Protocol Walkthrough Step 5: Reflect on the process How did this protocol work for you? What did you learn? What are some potential next steps? The recorder fills out the Team Feedback Sheet based on the group’s ideas and turns in to the administrator
