Introduce self Welcome to Lockheed Martin, and the ESH portion of on-boarding. Lockheed Martin takes ESH very seriously – we consider it part of our core values: Doing What's Right; Respecting Others; Performing With Excellence.” I hope you take at least one thing away from this session – we are committed to the environment and to safety. It’s part of everyone’s responsibility, whether you work in an office, on the assembly line, on the flight line, or in some remote location.”

ESH covers a lot of subjects, but we tried to limit it to the most important. It’s all important, but to highlight the things we really want to remember after you leave here today, we flagged the “Top 10 Take-Aways” with a red exclamation point – whenever you see one of these, pay special attention (you’ll be quizzed at the end). Optional: to emphasize the “Top 10” items, ask for a volunteer from the audience, and give them a call bell, clicker or something similar. Ask them to make the sound evey time he/she sees an exclamation point.

It means that as a company, we are committed to a goal of zero injuries. This commitment comes all the way down from the top of our Corporation – from Bob Stevens, our President and Chief Executive Officer. He is firmly committed to Zero Injuries. Some people ask “How can we achieve zero injuries? With the type of work we do, you can reduce the risk, but zero injuries is not possible – it’s unrealistic.” It won’t be easy, but we have to believe zero injuries is possible. If we don’t aim for the target, we’ll never get there. It will take a significant culture and behavior change by every employee, but if employees start thinking “how can I go this job safely” before starting a job, then most , if not all, injuries can be prevented -Bob Stevens, Lockheed Martin CEO

Company ESH policies and programs involve every organization and each employee in: Protecting our employees, the environment and local communities; Assuring full compliance with laws, regulations and requirements, to include corporate and customer requirements; Preventing pollution, conserving natural resources, reducing waste and recovering/recycling resources; Preventing injuries and ESH incidents and continually progressing toward zero injuries; Developing ESH performance objectives and targets to ensure continual improvement of the ESH Management System, reducing adverse impacts, and reducing risk. Our company’s ESH policy is “ESH is Everyone’s Responsibility”. (!) This means we are all responsible, everyone from the very top of our company to the bottom. You can find our policy and these commitments in Aerocode document AC-887, We are committed to protecting employee safety & health – we want everyone to return to their homes at the end of the day in the same healthy condition they were in when they arrived. Every day in doing our jobs, we strive to protect the environment, so we protect the communities in which we work. Listed here are some the commitments that flow out of our policy. ! Get involved in ESH! for example here’s what other sites do… Join/establish a E-SAFTE (Environment Safety Awareness for Team Excellence) Awards & recognition for improving the environment & workplace safety Get involved in safety or ESH committees. Recognize others for improving ESH - nominate a coworker Get involved in ESH inspections. For information on how to get involved, contact your Supervisor or Safety Representative As part of “ESH is Everyone’s Responsibility”, we encourage employees to get involved in ESH programs. There’s several ways you can get involved: Join a SAFTE team. Employees form SAFTE teams to improve safety and support environmental programs in their areas. Top teams earn awards and recognition. Get involved in safety or other ESH committees. There are several committees that interested and motivated employees can join. You can recognize people who have a positive impact on safety or the environment by nominating them for an ESH award. You can get involved in inspections in your area, to identify hazards before they harm others or the environment.

6 Own your 25-foot control zone!
The 25-Foot Control Zone What is it? A way of thinking about environmental, safety and health (ESH) – being aware of your surroundings and taking ownership of ESH within a 25-foot area, on all sides. Think of a sphere – you are responsible for ESH 25-feet in front of, behind, on both sides, above, and below you. One way you can impact ESH in your area is a simple concept called the “25-foot control zone”. Think of an area extending out 25 feet on all sides – think of it as your personal zone, one that you own, and that zone moves with you. Be responsible for the environment and the safety & health of anything that enters that zone. Own your 25-foot control zone!

8 Emergency Procedures Evacuations
Know your area/site emergency evacuation plans. Keep main aisles, access to fire extinguishers, and emergency exits clear. Evacuations: Follow building’s evacuation plan Only if safe to do so, secure classified data and shut down equipment. Assemble at your designated outside gathering station/ muster/ assembly areas. Remain there until further instructions from the zone coordinator or authorized person. If out of usual work area, follow the area’s employees. It is very important to know what to do in an emergency. Every building and area has an evacuation plan, which if there is an evacuation, tells you to what to do, where to assemble, and when it’s safe to return to your work area. Your manager will cover the details of your evacuation plan with you when you report to your work area. Here are some of the key elements of your emergency evacuation plan.

9 ! Emergency Procedures: Chemical Spills
Small/minor spills: if familiar with the spilled material and its hazards, and trained to clean up such spills, clean it up. Call appropriate personnel to properly dispose of spill residues. Major spills: Call your local emergency number. Move to a safe location. Warn fellow employees. Immediately report the spill to the emergency dispatcher Don’t walk through spilled materials ! Top 10 Item Emergencies also cover chemical spills. There are two kinds: Small or minor spills: These are of small amounts of a known material, and don’t present significant hazards. If you are trained to do so, you can clean it up, and call the HazMat organization to come and clean up the residue. Major spills: These are of an unknown materials, or of large amounts of a known material, which are beyond your training or abilities to handle. If come across a spill like this, move to a safe location, warn employees in the area, and call your site’s emergency number. (!)

11 “Be Safe” STOP for just a moment
Before starting a job, just take a second to: STOP for just a moment THINK about what you’re doing. Ask yourself ”What could go wrong? How can I make the job safer? Do I have all the necessary training, tools & safety equipment to do the job safely?” ACT to ensure the job is safe. Ask yourself “Have I taken all necessary steps to do the job safely? Have I followed procedures? Have I asked for help if I need it?” BE SAFE – Taking these simple steps will help prevent injury to yourself and others. Another simple concept that will help ensure that you remain safe, is to: STOP for a moment before starting a job THINK about what you’re doing. Ask “Do I have everything you need to do the job safely?”. And then ACT to make the job safe before proceeding. Sound simple? It is. If you follow these steps, you will remain safe.

12 ! How Do We Find Hazards? Hazards are identified by: Area employees
Regular inspections by: Supervisor Area manager ESH Audits Internal/External Auditors Pre use inspection of equipment by the operator/mechanic Report hazards to your supervisor, plant engineering or ESH. To have a safe workplace, we need to find hazards before, not after, they hurt someone; more importantly, once we find a hazard, we must do correct it. Our company has several programs to inspect or audit work areas and identify hazards. Supervisors, building/area managers, ESH staff, Process Integrity, Lockheed Martin corporate staff, customers and others all have responsibilities for inspecting work areas and identifying ways safety can be improved. But you and other employees also must be alert to safety hazards. If you are asked to use equipment which you feel is unsafe, STOP and tell your supervisor, ESH or someone else about your concern – it will be addressed. (!) ! Top 10 Item

13 Accidents, Injury, and Illness
Immediately report all workplace injuries/illnesses to your supervisor. As needed, seek Medical treatment/attention. Lost time for work related injuries/illnesses must be approved. ! Top 10 Item It is your responsibility to immediately report all work-related injuries, no matter how minor, to your supervisor. (!) Sometimes what seems minor at first can develop into a more serious injury later on. Your supervisor will help you determine if you need medical attention, and will help you get assistance, whether you need emergency medical response, or a trip to the company’s Medical clinic. Reporting the injury also establishes that something happened on-the-job, which help ensure you receive all the medical benefits to which you are entitled. It is very important to contact the company’s Medical Dept. and getting their approval before taking time off for a work-related injury, even if the time off is prescribed by an outside doctor. If you happen to have a work-related injury or illness, workers’ compensation benefits are available. Contact your site Worker’s Compensation Administrator.

14 Workers’ Compensation
Despite our best prevention efforts, sometimes injuries do happen If you are injured, Workers’ Compensation benefits are provided It is important to report all job-related injuries or illnesses You can get more site-specific information from your Workers’ Compensation Administrator: Fort Worth Janet Mansir, Marietta Beverly Keller, Palmdale Delores Morris, Sustainment Services FTO’s Mary Chambers If or when employees do get injured at work, Workers’ Compensation benefits are provided for them. Contact your site’s WC Administrator if you have questions. 14

15 Accidents, Injury, and Illness
Reporting and investigating workplace injuries are important: To effectively correct the hazard. To document facts and identify injury trends To communicate “Lessons Learned” and improve safety for everyone. Also report “close calls “ (near misses) - incidents that could have, but did not, cause a serious injury Once work-related injuries or illnesses are reported, they must be thoroughly investigated. The purpose of the investigation is to document the facts and the root causes of the injury, which helps identify corrective action to prevent it from happening again. It also documents the facts of the incident so similar injuries can be prevented. Lessons learned from injury investigations are often communicated throughout the company in ESH Alerts or Bulletins, to educate other on how to prevent injuries. Reporting close calls (or near-misses) is also important. Close calls are incidents that could have, but did not cause an injury. Close calls are symptoms of a hazard that, if not corrected, could cause serious injury in the future.

16 ! Ergonomics Use proper lifting techniques to prevent back injuries.
Preparing To Lift Lifting Ending Position Use proper lifting techniques to prevent back injuries. Get help when needed. Obtain and use material handling equipment. ! Top 10 Item Plan It! Start It Right! Finish It Right! Use Proper lifting techniques to help prevent back injuries. (!) Follow these steps when lifting: Prepare to lift: Plan the Lift Size up the situation, clearing obstructions. Squat down and bend your knees. Check the weight and center of gravity. Face the item to be lifted and get close to it. Lifting: Start it Right Hold the object close to your body. Keep the heaviest end closest to you. Keep your back inwardly curved or straight. Lift smoothly, using your legs. Ending position: Finish the Lift Carry the item close to your body. Try to set the item down by placing it between knuckle and shoulder height. Avoid putting items on the floor. Allow your back some recovery time between lifts. Keep the Load being lifted in the Green Zone, closest to your body.

17 Daily/regular stretching is proven to prevent injuries!
Stretch Break Daily/regular stretching is proven to prevent injuries! Contact local supervisor or local safety rep for more information on Work and Stretch Programs Professional athletes stretch out before a game to prevent injuries. In the same way, the Work –N- Stretch program encourages employees to stretch on their own and in groups to prevent injuries. Stretching exercises are tailored to the work the employees are doing. We’ve been sitting for a while – now we’re going to do a couple of stretching exercises. Everyone stand up….

18 Confined Spaces Confined Spaces Can be very dangerous.
Spaces large enough so employee can enter (e.g. aircraft fuel tanks). Not designed for continuous employee work. Most confined spaces are identified (signs, placards or some other means). Work in ANY confined space requires special training and certification. You should contact your supervisor or an ESH representative before entering ANY confined space. Confined spaces can be very dangerous. They are spaces, like tanks or pits, that can trap dangerous vapors or gases and cause serious injury or death. Entering a confined spaces requires special training; it also requires testing and may require a special permit. Confined spaces generally have warning signs posted. It is unlikely that your job would require you to work in or around such a confined space, but if you do, you will need to be authorized and trained before entering the space. DO NOT Enter ANY Confined Space Unless You Are Trained and Authorized

19 Lockout/Tag Out Strict procedures for safely shutting down and restarting equipment. Protects employees servicing or maintaining equipment. Prevents serious injury or death from accidentally starting up equipment. Lockout/Tagout procedures prevents injury during the servicing and maintenance of machines, equipment, and processes. It prevents the unexpected start-up of the machines or equipment, or release of stored energy which could cause serious injury. Never try to start or use equipment that has been locked out or tagged out. A person’s safety is at stake! DO NOT REMOVE LOCKS/TAGS OR TRY TO OPERATE ANY EQUIPMENT WITH A LOCK OR TAG ON IT! Awareness training required

20 Electrical Safety Extension cords used improperly - can overheat and cause fire. Power strips (surge suppressors) plugged together; Extension cords used as permanent, instead of temporary, wiring Metal junction boxes used as extension cords (shock hazard). Damaged wiring or conduit is a shock hazard Live, exposed wiring Openings in electrical boxes Storage blocking electrical panels, circuit breaker boxes and disconnects (no access if emergency). Report hazards to your supervisor, plant engineering, or ESH. Electrical hazards are one of the most common hazards found during inspections. Here are some of the ones most frequently found. Be aware of them, and report them to your supervisor.

21 Personal Protective Equipment
! Top 10 Item Workplace Hazard Assessment (WHA) if available or your Supervisor can tell you what PPE is required for your work Complete required training before using any PPE Use the right PPE for the job Inspect PPE before use. Don’t enter PPE-required areas unless wearing it! Observe 100% Eye Protection Areas! Supervisors enforce PPE requirements Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protects you from hazards on the job. In shop areas, your workplace hazard assessment (WHA) lists the PPE required for each task you do.(!) Special training is required before using some kinds of PPE, like respirators. Before using PPE, you must inspect it. Most PPE use is determined by the work you are doing – however, there are some areas that you must put on PPE before entering, no matter what work you are doing. For example, “Green Line” areas require eye protection.

22 Hearing Protection Required
Noise Hearing loss from noise is usually gradual, painless - but also permanent. If you work in a high-noise area, wear approved hearing protection. Contact supervisors to identify your work areas requiring hearing protection. To prevent hearing damage: Wear hearing protection Minimize exposure Don’t use personal listening devices (IPODS, etc.) where hearing protection is required. Educate yourself and others about noise Be responsible – follow requirements CAUTION Exposure to loud noises can harm your hearing. If you work in one of these areas, special requirements apply. One of the most important is to protect your hearing by wearing your hearing protection (ear plugs, ear muffs, etc.) Hearing Protection Required

23 Some materials are “banned” or “restricted
Hazardous Materials Some materials are “banned” or “restricted Controlling hazardous materials used at our company or operating locations improves safety, reduces costs, and ensures compliance with regulations Our Hazardous Materials Management Program (HMMP) approves hazardous materials Customer/Host may also grant approval of hazardous materials. MSDS must be provided to LM ESH for review and record keeping prior to use. Only approved materials can be used, bought or brought on-site Hazardous materials, if not properly controlled, can create both safety and environmental hazards. Our company controls hazardous materials through its Hazardous Materials Management Program (HMMP). Hazardous materials includes paints, solvents, pesticides, etc. Only materials approved by the HMMP may be bought or brought on-site. (!) Some materials have restricted uses, or are even banned completely because of their health, physical, or environmental hazards. ! Top 10 Item ESH policy – Hazardous Materials Procedures require every hazardous material (including free samples) to be approved prior to use.

25 Communicating and Understanding the Hazards
The HazCom Regulation ensures that employees: Can receive hazard information on substances they work with. Can exercise those rights without being discharged or discriminated against.

26 Know the Regulations The company has a written HazCom Program (AeroCode) covering: Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs). Hazardous material list. Container warning labels. Employee training. Safety rules for non-routine tasks. Other ways hazards are communicated to employees and contractors.

Top 10 Item Check Your MSDS MSDSs contain important chemical information, such as: Material’s name Manufacturer Properties Hazards Ways chemical enter your body Safe exposure limits Safe handling & control measures Protective equipment Emergency, first aid, and spill procedures Contact your supervisor if you are uncertain about a chemical’s hazards. You can obtain an MSDS from these links: Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) are the cornerstones of hazard communication. They provide important information on the chemical, its hazards, and how it can be used safely in the workplace. MSDSs are required to contain, at a minimum, the above information. 28 Container Labels Departments must ensure all hazardous chemical containers are properly labeled. Containers should come labeled from the manufacturer. Company labels are used on secondary containers or company-manufactured materials.

29 Container Labels Labels are NOT substitutes for MSDSs – they are only a quick summary of the hazards. For more detailed information, see the MSDS. If labels are missing, damaged, or unreadable, contact ESH.

30 Container Labels Chemicals labels must have the following information:
Identity of the hazardous substance Chemical’s name Manufacturer’s name MSDS number and/or trade name Appropriate hazard warning All secondary containers must be properly labeled.

31 Understand the Physical and Health Hazards
Flammable- can catch fire Explosive- can explode or catch fire Compressed Gas- can explode or create a missle. Oxidizer- can cause other materials to catch fire. Carcinogens- can cause cancer. Toxic- can cause poisonous reaction. Corrosive- can cause burns and destroy tissue. Sensitizer- can cause allergic reactions such as skin rashes, dermatitis, or asthma-like breathing problems.

32 General Health Effects
Chemicals can affect your health in two main ways: Short-Term (or acute) effects From a brief chemical exposure. Usually happens quickly (within hours after exposure). Long Term (chronic) effects From repeated or long-term chemical exposure Could occur years after exposure. Overexposure to chemicals can cause health effects; this can be avoided by wearing PPE and following safety rules!

33 General Health Effects (Con’t)
How do chemicals enter your body? Inhaled (most common way). Skin or eye contact. Accidental swallowing (example, handling cigarettes, food, or cosmetics with contaminated hands). Exposure Limits: Government sets safe or Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs). Exposure under the PEL is considered safe; exposure over the PEL can be harmful.

34 Substance Specific Requirements
Some materials have special requirements (training, exposure monitoring and medical exams). Common examples include: Lead Methylene chloride Formaldehyde Benzene Asbestos Beryllium Cadmium Hexavalent Chromium DO NOT use these materials without receiving training first!

35 Control Exposure Some ways you can protect yourself:
Follow your WHA or local work instructions Wear required personal protective equipment. Use the equipment/controls provided (example: ventilation, vacuum sanders). Always take the time to be safe. Never take chemicals for granted. Know the hazards of the materials you work with (if unsure, read labels and MSDSs) If you don’t know – ASK!

This is a voluntary initiative that goes above and beyond compliance. The name of this new environmental program is “Go Green”. With “Go Green”, we want to reduce our business risks, support our customer’s environmental reduction goals, and promote corporate responsibility. Reduce carbon impact by 25 percent Reduce waste to landfill by 25 percent Reduce water usage by 25 percent “Lockheed Martin’s goal is to eliminate adverse environmental impact from its operations” Under our Go Green program, we have 3 main focus areas: Reducing our carbon emissions through reduced energy consumption Reducing the amount of waste going to landfill Reducing our water usage We have set a goal of a 25% absolute reduction for these 3 focus areas to be achieved by 2012.

What are the consequences of not following Environmental requirements? Pollution of air, land, and water in Aeronautics communities Increased health risks for the community Harming threatened, protected species Company and personal liability from $27,500 up to $250,000 per day per violation and/or imprisonment up to 15 years Our company is subject to many environmental laws, regulations, and permits. These controls are put into place to control pollution, protect the health of our communities, and to protect wildlife. If we do not follow these requirements, not only will our natural resources be impacted, but our company and individuals may become liable for violation of these controls. There are many regulatory agencies that audit and inspect our facilities, as well as internal company auditors and customer inspectors. Examples of who’s checking up on us? What are the top five Environmental concerns for employees? Housekeeping Close drums Latch funnels Close container lids Bag-the-rag Empty day cans by end of shift Clean spills promptly Practice 6S 1. Good Housekeeping is essential to maintaining environmental compliance. The following are key housekeeping focus areas: Close drums – this is required to prevent spills and escape of harmful vapors Latch funnels – this is also required to prevent spills and escape of harmful vapors Close container lids - this is also required to prevent spills and escape of harmful vapors Bag-the-rag – this is required to comply with our air quality permits. It prevents escape of harmful vapors Empty day cans by end of shift – this is required to ensure proper management of regulated and hazardous waste Clean spills promptly Practice 6S – this practice provides an orderly way to manage your work areas

41 Environmental Compliance
Resource Conservation Reduce water use and report all water leaks to maintenance Reduce the generation of waste and waste to landfill Save energy Order only what you need Recycle and reuse materials Recordkeeping (if applicable) Chemical usage Paint Booth pressure differential logs Inventory adds/changes Inspections Training Conserving resources is the top priority of our Go Green program. As previously mentioned, our focus is reducing water use, reducing waste to landfill, and reducing carbon emissions by saving energy. Recordkeeping is critical for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Some examples of the many records that must be maintained include: chemical usage, paint booth pressure differential logs*, hazardous materials inventories, inspection records, and environmental training records. * Paint booth pressure differential measures the amount of air flow across the paint booth filters and is used as an indicator of when the filters need to be changed.

42 Environmental Compliance
Permits Follow LM permit conditions if applicable Give ESH advance notice of material, process, and/or operational changes NOTE: Follow local / host guidance if on non-LM facility Equipment Keep in good operating condition Call ESH if permitted equipment breaks down Notify ESH before modifying, moving, and/or purchasing We have a number of different permits which allow certain activities to occur at the site. These include air emission permits, stormwater discharge permits, and industrial wastewater discharge permits. We must follow all permit conditions in order to maintain compliance. If you are going to change a material, a process or an operation, alert ESH immediately so ESH can determine if these changes will affect any of the site’s environmental permits. Proper operation and maintenance of environmentally sensitive equipment is also critical to continued compliance. Examples of these include paint booths, storage tanks, boilers, and refrigeration equipment. Notify ESH immediately if any equipment that is covered by an environmental permit breaks down. Also, if you want to buy, modify, move, or decommission any equipment, notify ESH BEFORE you do any of these activities. “It’s not new for us to care about the planet. Secure bungs, rings, bolts, etc. Follow your sites “empty” hazardous material container requirements. Satellite Containers Call the site’s HazWaste organization when: Container is full Follow your site’s satellite accumulation rules Labels All hazardous waste containers must have an unobscured label or sticker. Drums Keep lids and funnels closed. Secure bungs and rings. Remove open funnels or use lockable funnel. Follow these basic hazardous waste management requirements: Keep containers in good condition, and closed except when adding waste, do not overfill container, and don’t let liquid accumulate on the top of containers. Training: Attend annual spill awareness and hazardous waste training. A hazardous waste label must be affixed to all hazardous waste containers. If the label is missing or unreadable, contact Haz Mat or your supervisor. If you discover a leaking container, treat it as you would any other spill (previous slide), and contact Haz Mat immediately. Haz Mat personnel check accumulation points weekly, however they do not check satellite collection points. When a satellite container is near full, call Haz Mat for pickup. Storing Hazardous Waste Ensure Wastes Are Compatible! (If in doubt, call ESH) Do NOT mix: Acids with bases Metals with acids or bases Alcohol/water with metal hydrides Organic solvents with acids or bases Oxidizers (e.g. chlorine, alodine) with acids or organic solvents Multi component resins (e.g. epoxies, urethanes) This picture is an example of what can happen when wastes are mixed together when they should not be. In this case, incompatible wastes were placed together in the same drum, reacted and the drum ruptured. Multiple component materials should not be placed into the same drum where they could react and product toxic gases, pressure or heat. If you are unsure that wastes are compatible, contact ESH for assistance. B629

45 Air Quality Air Permits and Conditions
Typically required for all equipment that emits air pollutants like paint booths, solvent cleaning operations, boilers, etc. If equipment that emits air pollutants breaks down or malfunctions, call ESH and Maintenance immediately. Complete required ESH recordkeeping when instructed. Follow your site’s chemical usage recording practices. If you work with a permitted piece of equipment, you must follow all permit conditions. Your department manager should review these conditions with you on an annual basis. If you have specific Air Quality questions or concerns contact ESH.

46 Air Quality (Con’t) BAG THE RAG! Cleaning operations:
Use pre-saturated wipes when possible. Store rags and applicators in closed containers or bags. Use enclosed cleaning stations to clean spray guns; the solvent cleaner must be collected into enclosed container. Follow local procedures if on host facility Use only compliant paints, coatings, and solvents. Compliant solvent charts are found in Aerocode Instruction AC Clean paint and coating application equipment using enclosed spray gun cleaning stations or by disassembling equipment in a solvent vat. Keep solvent vats closed when not in use. Keep paints, coatings, solvents, and soiled rags in labeled and closed containers. Do not atomize solvents for cleaning operations.

47 Water Quality Five Common Water Quality Problems
Pouring chemicals/rinsing brushes in sink or drain. Allowing water to run unnecessarily Storing chemicals near floor drains Leaking process/factory equipment discharged to drains. Unauthorized storm water discharges. If you observe an unauthorized discharge call your supervisor or local designated personnel Preventing water pollution and reducing water usage can be easy by following these guidelines: Do not pour chemicals or rinse paint brushes in a sink or drain. Do not store chemicals near a drain Do not allow process or factory equipment to leak into a drain Do not discharge chemicals into storm water drains. If you see an unauthorized or suspicious discharge entering a storm drain, call emergency dispatch Do not allow water to run unnecessarily

48 Water Quality (Con’t) Employee requirements
Do not put any chemical into any drain without written ESH approval. Do not operate new equipment or processes that will discharge to the sewer without written ESH approval. Maintain good housekeeping and equipment operation to avoid chemical spills to sewer or storm drains. Sweep up material (sawdust, metal shavings/chips, absorbent) at the end of every shift. Consult with ESH regarding any questions about where materials can be discharged. Always maintain good housekeeping to prevent contamination of our waterways.

49 Recycling Employees are responsible for identifying ways to reduce or eliminate waste associated with the work they perform. Recycling containers may be located throughout each facility for employee use. Contact ESH if your area needs additional bins. Simple waste reduction practices you can use in your work area: order products with minimal packaging participate in site recycling programs separate your recyclables and non-recyclables recycle and reuse- reducing the total amount of waste generated is key Bottles & Cans Recycling is an important element of our Go Green program. ESH issues area-specific WHAs to managers. Managers post WHAs in the work area and review with workers. ESH updates WHAs when operations or equipment change. NOTE: format may differ at your location The Work Hazard Assessment (WHA) acts as a roadmap to ESH requirements for your work area (!) Here’s the WHA process: ESH analyses the operation: it breaks operations down into tasks, then identifies hazards and controls (protective equipment, ventilation, training, etc.) ESH summarizes this information and publishes results as Work Hazard Assessments (WHAs) ESH provides WHAs to managers. Managers brief their employees on requirements, and post WHAs in the areas. When conditions change, managers notify ESH so WHAs can be updated. Show example of WHA – explain different sections. Only those materials that have been approved and entered into the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics MSDS system can be brought on site. 7.
