4. Philosophy  Empirical research shows that all students can learn to sing and read music  Academic - not extra! –Full Credit Given –No “Fluff”/not exploratory  Sacred Music –Musical Heritage and Culture –Texts will be discussed.

5. All Kids Can Learn To Sing!  Research shows that musical talent is not a fixed trait.  Both boys and girls go through a vocal mutation (change).  Students will improve with consistent effort and attention to classroom instruction.

6. Fair Grading Policy  Students enter 7 th Grade at different stages of vocal development and have had varying degrees of exposure to music reading and theory.  If a student puts forth a strong effort and contributes fully to the rehearsals, I will minimize the effect of music theory and vocal skills tests on the quarter grade.
