18. The average weight of a Florida black bear is 350 pounds for males and 150 pounds for females. However, they can range in weight from 150 to 600 pounds. They are 4.5 to 6.5 feet long, making them larger than any other subspecies of black bears. We had this kind of visitor at our camp site Saturday night. This a sample of what he looked like. I didn’t have my camera in my tent at 1 a.m. when he made his appearance. Zackery and I didn’t make friends with him either.
