The song “Nobody Cared” relates to the theme and quote because when Cassie and Little Man got mad from what they saw in their new school book, Mama didn’t care in the school board seen it or not because she was fighting for her kids to not see the word negro in their books or be exposed to it.

The song “Skyscraper” relates to the theme and quote because her, Stacey and T.J was waiting and Mr. Barnett to take their order but he kept going to the whites even when they came in after her, Stacey and T.J. Cassie was fighting for what she believed in which was they get treated fairly. Also, no matter how bad Mr. Barnett treated her, she wasn’t backing down, she was standing her ground like a skyscraper.

The song “Eye of the tiger” relates to the theme and the quote because they were fighting to get back at the whites and Stacey raised up to showing his siblings how they were going to get revenge to stop the whites from splashing them.

12 Event: Page 52 The Logan kids dug a hole in the road so the bus will not splash them anymore and show the whites how it feels to get dirty everyday.

The song “I’m gonna get ya” relates to the theme and the event on page 52 because the Logan’s dug the hole to show the whites how it feels to walk everyday and get dirty to school, and they were fighting to get revenge by covering up the hole and sacrificing there lunch to do it.

15 Symbol: The Logan land The Logan’s grandfather bought the land and the Logan’s live on it and don’t want to loose it.

The song “Song of the South” relates to the theme and the symbol of the Logan land because the Logan’s picked cotton and didn’t get rich and they all worked hard for what they have right now.

18 Symbol: The fire Papa started the fire to stop the mob the night the Wallace’s gone to T.J’s house to beat him up.

The song “Girl on fire” relates to the theme and the symbol of the fire because in the lyrics it said she’s not backing down and in the book and movie the blacks and whites where fighting to get the fire until they got it out.

21 Event: Page 231, Paid payment
Papa had to pay the payment that Mr. Granger and it would be to early.

The song “ Beds are burning” relates to the theme and the event because in the book Papa wanted to be treated fair and Mr. Granger made papa pay the payment early and Papa wanted to pay on the time he always has. So instead of trying to be treated fair he just paid the payment.

24 Symbol: Hammer’s Car Uncle Hammer saw Mr. Granger’s car and decided he wanted one because he liked it , so he did.

The song “Mercedes Bendz” relates to the theme and the symbol of Uncle Hammer’s car because he was fighting for what he wanted which was a car like Mr. Granger’s because Uncle Hammer liked Mr. Grangers so much . Also, Uncle Hammer worked all his life to get what he has now.

The song “ Your cheatin heart” relates to the theme and the quote by T.J and Stacey because T.J knows he shouldn’t cheat but he doesn’t want to fail, so he keeps trying to cheat .

The song “ Stairway to heaven” relates to the theme and the quote by Mama on page 99 because the Logan’s were treated fairly in the Vicksburg so they chose to shop there instead of shopping at the Wallace store where they were traded unfairly. Also, they were fighting for what they believed in which was that people should stop shopping at the Wallace store and shop in Vicksburg.
