II. Task What to argue/prove in the essay Use similar words to write your thesis statement – make the bullet points into a clear sentence Thesis should explain what you are going to prove in the essay
Aim: How can we write an effective thesis statement from the task? Do Now: Take out your DBQ short answer packets
TASK: Discuss the dangerous working conditions of children during the late 1800s and early 1900s and describe the actions taken to improve the lives of child workers during this period THESIS: Throughout the late 1800s and the early 1900s, children faced dangerous conditions in the places where they worked and as a result, groups of people took action to improve children’s lives.
