Your Salvation

Introduction Last two weeks we covered the point that the most important things are secured. The first stage of securing our salvation begins with us in the heart. Putting our trust and faith in God is the second. Testing our heart allows us to see if these other points to fall into place.

Tests for what is really important to us. Our casual approach to sin. (Heb 1:9; 1 Cor 6:18)

Tests for what is really important to us. (1 Corinthians 6:18 NKJV) - “Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.”

Tests for what is really important to us. (Hebrews 1:9 NKJV) - “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.””

Tests for what is really important to us. What is your reaction when someone approaches you with concern about your spiritual condition?

Tests for what is really important to us. What is your reaction when someone approaches you with concern about your spiritual condition? Too often we show our priorities by ignoring these concerns, why? It is not important to us!

Tests for what is really important to us. Our casual approach to Bible study. (1 Thess 2:13)

Tests for what is really important to us. (1 Thessalonians 2:13 NKJV) - “For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.”

Tests for what is really important to us. When we know the source of this word we will show it!

Tests for what is really important to us. What kind of hearer are you? Often I hear of people moved by a sermon or Bible study that walk away and do nothing! Why? It did not stay important to them! (Jas 1:22)

Tests for what is really important to us. (James 1:22 NKJV) “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

Tests for what is really important to us. Why is the religious world unconcerned about closely following God's word?

Tests for what is really important to us. Our casual approach to God. (Col 3:17)

Tests for what is really important to us. Colossians 3:17 NKJV) - “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

Tests for what is really important to us. I see men in "churches of Christ" that claim we need a new way of looking at the Bible. Why? In my opinion they have changed their view of God.

Tests for what is really important to us. Some are content with stirring up clouds of dust and confusion and concluding that we may then do what we wish. The man who fears God will only do what he knows is clearly found approved in God.

Tests for what is really important to us. Our casual approach to raising our children. (Eph 6:4)

Tests for what is really important to us. (Ephesians 6:4 NKJV) - “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”

Tests for what is really important to us. The greatest problem we face in the church are parents who think they know more than God! Anger is often expressed to those who try to show them God's way.

Tests for what is really important to us. We must first show the way of faith by living by faith.

Tests for what is really important to us. Our casual approach to our salvation. (2 Cor 6:1-2)

Tests for what is really important to us. (2 Corinthians 6:1-2 NKJV) - “We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. {2} For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

Tests for what is really important to us. Some refuse to test their own conversion. Have you been baptized into Christ? (Acts 2:38)

Tests for what is really important to us. (Acts 2:38 NKJV) - “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Tests for what is really important to us. Why do some get angry when it is suggested that their denominational baptism may not be acceptable to God?

Tests for what is really important to us. What does a person who puts God first do?

Tests for what is really important to us. What does a person who puts God first do? Even if they need time for further study, they will be diligently pursing it!

Tests for what is really important to us. What does a person who puts God first do? Even if they need time for further study, they will be diligently pursing it! What would you think of a doctor that said: "You might have cancer, but we will not worry about it?" We want certainty here. Why not with God?

Tests for what is really important to us. What kind of confidence and assurance do you have? (2 Pt 1:10)

Tests for what is really important to us. (2 Peter 1:10 NKJV) - “Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;”

Conclusion Are you sure of your salvation? Are you taking chances with your soul? Isn’t it time to get right with God? Invitation
