2 Focusing Questions What are the components of the Grade 8 Exit Project? How can we use the “Grade 8 Exit Project Instructional Guide” to guide our students through the Exit Project process?

4 Framing The Session In this session we will: 1.Examine the three components to the Grade 8 Social Studies Exit Project. 2.Outline the subsequent seven sessions in which we explore how to integrate technology into the Grade 8 Social Studies Exit Project. 3.Create a sample project timeline using Microsoft Word.

5 Teaching An Exit Project is a culminating project in which students explore a topic in social studies in depth. Students research the topic and prepare a written, oral, and graphic presentation.

6 Guided Practice 3 Components: >Written >Graphic >Oral As we review each component, consider the various ways that technology can support each of these components.

7 The Written Component Technology Infusion: Microsoft Word typed report. PowerPoint slideshow notes.

9 The Graphic Component Teachers can guide students in their choice of a graphic component. Technology Infusion: >PowerPoint >Digital documentary using Windows MovieMaker or iMovie >Tri-fold with printed images and typed writing

11 Steps to Creating an Oral Presentation 1. Know your subject matter. 2. Develop a theme. 3. Prepare your script. 4. Rehearse. 5. Present. The oral component can take many shapes. It can be: - a poem - a song - a report
