I wanted to see which tape was the stickiest. Purpose

I believe the Duct Tape will be the stickiest. I believe this because it is used to seal air ducts and it seems to me that sealing an air duct would require something very sticky. I have also played with duct tape and I found it hard to get off. Hypothesis

Research I went on line and looked a the Scotch web site and the 3M web site. I used the Encarta Encyclopedia to understand what kinds of tape there were.

1.)Cut 4 strips of each tape ½ inch by 4 inches long. 2.)Put the tape through the rubber band. 3.)Stick the tape and rubber band to the floor. 4.)Slide a ruler through the rubber band. 5.)Stretch the ruler up the yard stick until the tape pulls off the floor. 6.)Measure and record the height on the yard stick where the tape pulls off the floor. 7.)Repeat the test 4 times with each different tape. Test Procedures

I observed that sometimes it was hard to determine where the exact point of release was because the ruler bounced. Observations and Results

The variables were the different tapes that were used. The constants were the surface, the ruler, the yard stick and the rubber bands. Variables And Constants

Conclusion I found out that the Duct Tape was the stickiest tape my hypothesis was correct. The Gorilla tape finished second. The results could be used as an advertisement to show how good their product is.

Abstract The purpose of my experiment was to find out which tape was the stickiest. I thought that the stickiest tape would be the best tape to seal my packages. I had always heard from my Dad that duct tape could stick to anything. I thought that duct tape would be the stickiest. I have played with duct tape and it was hard to get off. The method I used to see which tape was the stickiest was to cut ½ inch by 4 inch strips of all the different tapes. I placed a sheet of white paper against a wall and then stood a yard stick in front of the paper. I took my first strip of tape and put it through a rubber band. I then stuck the tape and rubber band to the floor in front of the yard stick. I put a ruler through the other end of the rubber band. I lifted the ruler and measured how high I had to pull to pull the tape off the floor. I repeated the test four times and made a note of each result. I then moved to the next type of tape and once again repeated the experiment four times. I continued this procedure until I had tested all nine samples. During the experiment I had difficulty measuring exactly where the point was where the tape came off the floor because the ruler bounced as the tape let go. I also noticed that the results were grouped. I did find out that the old story that duct tape really sticks is true. My hypothesis was correct. However, the Gorilla tape was very close behind.
