Abuse Abuse and its victims – Abuse- harmful or offensive treatment – Different types of abuse(pg 327) The effects of abuse – Some physical, some emotional – Lasting affects Help – Stay away from abusive people – Stay away from violent people – Trust your instincts Breaking the silence – Talk about the problem!!!!!!!!!!
Coping with Harassment Just a joke? – Know the difference between “joking” and “harassment” – Harassment- any repeated, unwanted joke, comment, touch, or behavior. – Sexual harassment- unwanted jokes, behavior, or touching that relate to a person’s gender or sexuality Stopping harassment – State clearly it is not welcome Please stop talking to me that way Don’t touch me – Use refusal skills – Report it
