9  There are always a lot of people and tourists on the square.  Every winter there is a big Christmas tree and on the New Year’s Eve people gather around the tree.  In the middle of the square there is Admiral Nelson’s Column.

10  This is the Queen’s home.  It is a large palace.  There are more than 6 hundred rooms in it.  There you can find a hospital, 2 sport clubs, a cinema, 2 post offices and a swimming pool.

11  Westminster Abbey is an old church.  It was a symbol of England.  English kings and queens are crowned there.  Some famous people are buried in the Abbey.

12  The Houses of Parliament are on the river Thames.  It is the place of the British Parliament.  Its members make laws there.  There are more then 1000 rooms.

13  Big Ben is the most famous clock in the world.  It is a symbol of London.  It is a big bell.  You can hear it every hour.

14  The Tower of London is a very big castle.  You can see the Tower from the river Thames.  Many years ago it was a fortress. Then it was a prison.  And now it is a museum of armour.

15  It is one of the famous bridges across the Thames.  It is next to the Tower of London.  It opens and ships go up and down the River Thames.

16  St. Paul’s Cathedral is the second largest church in the world.  It was built in the 17th century by Sir Christopher Wren.  St. Paul is the main church of London and a place for many state ceremonies.
