2. What Does Pride Stand for? P ersonal R einforcement I ncentive for D aily E ncouragement

3. What is the PRIDE program? The PRIDE Program is a means to respond positively to students who need extra support with their behavior. On a daily basis, staff can teach them appropriate behaviors and provide them with the opportunities to practice as they move from activity to activity. Additionally, the PRIDE Program provides an opportunity for students to check in and receive positive attention from adults

4. How do we give extra support to students in the PRIDE Program? Each Student will have a PRIDE card that they will carry with them from class to class. On the cards will be each students academic and special area classes. Students will earn a number value based on how successful they were able to meet their goals for each class.

5. What are the students goals? Each student will have the same three goals Be Kind Be Safe Be Responsible

6. How are students scored? Students will earn a number value for meeting each of the three goals 2, 1, or 0 2 means that they met that goal fully without any issues 1 means that they had some trouble meeting that goal fully, but still did well enough to earn partial points, or turned their behaviors around enough to make partial points 0 means that they did not meet the expectations of that goal at all for the class period

7. When do we go over their Pride cards with them? At the beginning of class Pride Cards should be collected. Briefly give the student support by acknowledging positives and encouraging positive behavior At the end of class go over the points with your students and circle the points that they earned. Teachers should focus only on acknowledging positive behaviors when giving written feedback.

8. Does the feedback always have to be positive? Yes. You should give them an appropriate number value for each goal, but feedback should be brief and positive. The point of the PRIDE card is to help students build upon positive behaviors and interactions.

9. How do we support students who seem to be struggling? Check in with the students at the beginning of class or through out the class to remind and teach them appropriate behaviors. This will help you provide them with the opportunities to practice as they move from activity to activity.

10. How do students receive their PRIDE cards everyday? Students will be assigned a mentor within the school who they will check in with daily. Their Morning check in will be as follows: Morning Hello: (Check-IN) Student will check in with their mentor between 7:30-7:45 each morning. At that time they will receive the following: 1.A quick reminder of daily expectations and check in about their morning 2.A check to see if they are prepared for the day (lunch, materials, homework, etc.) 3.And Finally they are given their new Pride Card for the day

11. Will these students still follow the Stoplight system? Yes the students will still follow the stop light system. If their color is changed to red they will need to go to the buddy classroom and fill out a reflection sheet Unless otherwise stated they will not have a stop pass and should not be allowed to check in with their mentor unless it is during their designated times. If they commit a tier 2 offense Mr. Colorio should be notified and an appropriate consequence will be determined.

12. Who collects the Pride Cards at the end of the day? End of the Day Goodbye (Check-Out) Students will return with their completed point sheet to the Mentor’s room at 2:45 – 2:50 each day. At that time the following will occur: 1.Student will be able to reflect on their day 2.The mentor will check to see whether the student met his/her goal. If so, the student will receive a small reward. If not, the student will receive encouragement to try again tomorrow along with a problem-solving discussion of what they might do differently. 3.The student will take the point sheet home to share with their parents. Parents are encouraged to also give feedback and discuss their child’s successes and problem solve on how to increase appropriate behaviors

13. How are Parents involved? The PRIDE Program also provides for daily communication between a student and his/her teacher and between school and parents, daily. Parents are encouraged to provide reinforcement at home when the goal is met and constantly offer feedback and encouragement to their sons or daughters

14. What if a student loses or does not hand the teacher their Pride card? The student will earn 0’s for the day if he/she loses their Pride Card. If they do not turn it in to their teacher they will earn 0’s for that class They will still check in with their mentor at the end of the day

15. What if they frequently lose their point sheet or continue to not get certain classes signed? Sarah Moore or Lisa Dirsa will call home to notify parents of their progress with the Pride Card

16. What if students consistently receive low points or continue to struggle? If students continue to struggle the support team will meet and determine if a student needs more than a tier 2 intervention. Tier 3 supports would be explored at this time.

17. How long will students remain on the Pride Card Students will remain on the pride card until the team determines that more support is needed, or if supports are no longer needed. The support team will work with teachers and other PBIS members to determine if the intervention should continue
