Computer monitoring Call monitroring Video surveillance(video camera)

3 Library Libraries may wish to adopt an electronic policy to limits the library`s liability for employee misconduct, such as using it`s s to sexually harass another employee. Library may also wish to monitor their employee`s electronic communications to verify that it`s electronic systems are being used for library Purposes and Are not being compromised by inapproprite personal use or by being made subject to viruses.

4 Advantages of computer monitoring
By tracking the time spent on the computer,an employers will be able to evaluate an employee`s performance better. With a clearer understanding of what employees needs to improve on,training,coaching can be given to the employee, which benefits them. If the employee takes longer time on keystrokes,the monitoring system will catch this.

5 Disadvantages of computer monitroing
The employee might not understand computer program. Lack of trust felt by the employee. Employee can become stessed by the fact that they`re constantly being monitroed, which will lead to decease in good customer service.

6 Call monitoring Call monitoring is “Listening to live phone calls and recoeding one`s observaions”. Every employer keeps tabs on it`s employee. But increasingly ,companies want to know the details of how employees are spending their precious time when on the phone and online. Employer also want to know the emplyees communications & activities on the job ,including their phone calls, s, Internet connections, computer files.

7 Advantages of call monitoring
This will resulting in high quality establishment. The employees will know that they can be monitored at any time, so they will always try their best. This will, in turn, make the customers much happier. The top management will have an easier time seeing how their company is performing.

8 Disadvantages of call monitoring
Stress that will be placed on the employees because of the knowledge that they could be watched at anytime. The stress will affect the motivation of the workers, leading to decease in productivity. The feeling of mistrust will also resulting in decrease motivation & productivity.

9 Video surveillance Video surveillance is the viewing of employees through the use of various of video cameras place through the facility. The video cameras can either be placed in plain sight of the employees, or secretly hidden.

10 Advantages of video survillance
Having video surveillance is the fact that they can act as deterrents for bad behavior by the employees. The camera can also act as motivators that encourage workers to perform to their best of abilities.

11 Disadvantages of video surveillance
The employees do not want to under perform, so they are contanstly worrying about their performance. The system can lead to higher stress levels for the employees.

12 Social & Ethical issues of Electronic employee monitoring
The hazard of high-tech crime and difficulty of keeping data secure: Even though you trust the institution and monitoring the performance and data of employee, you can`t be sure that the datas will remain secure in the systems. Computer crime is at all time high,and law enforcement officials are having difficult time to keep it under control. The risks of failure of computer system: compter software is dificult to write,because it is incredibly complex. As result ,no computer system is completely fail safe.
