MEN OF INTEGRITY“Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap Him in His words. They sent their disciples to Him along with the Herodians. ‘Teacher,’ they said, ‘we know you are a man of integrity (*) and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren’t swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are. Tell us then…” (Matthew 22:15-17; Mark. 12:14; NIV).

You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands, you put everything under his feet; all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim in the paths of the sea. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.”

MOTIVATIONS OF MASCULINITY: INTEGRITYOFMASCULINITYMOTIVATIONS OF MASCULINITY:Individualism: “It is not good for the man to be alone, I will make a helper for him” (Genesis 2:18).Inactivity: “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, ‘Did God really say…?’”“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it” (Genesis 3:1, 6). [Problem of Passivity in Spiritual headship]
MOTIVATIONS OF MASCULINITY: INTEGRITYOFMASCULINITYMOTIVATIONS OF MASCULINITY:Isolation: “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked, so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves” (Genesis 3:7; loss of intimacy).
MOTIVATIONS OF MASCULINITY: INTEGRITYOFMASCULINITYMOTIVATIONS OF MASCULINITY:Insecurity: “Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?’ He answered, ‘I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid” (Genesis 3:7-10).
MOTIVATIONS OF MASCULINITY: INTEGRITYOFMASCULINITYMOTIVATIONS OF MASCULINITY:Irresponsibility: “And He said, ‘Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?’ The man said, ‘The woman You put here with me – she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it” (Genesis 3:11-12).

MODELS OF MASCULINITY: INTEGRITYOFMASCULINITYMODELS OF MASCULINITY:Jesus = “Son of Man” (Dan. 7:13; Matthew 2:28; 10:45; 14:62; Luke 9:58; 12:8; 18:8; 19:10)Philippians 2:6-7: “…Christ Jesus, Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross!”
MODELS OF MASCULINITY: INTEGRITYOFMASCULINITYMODELS OF MASCULINITY:I Corinthians 15:47-49: “The first man Adam became a living being. The last Adam, a life-giving spirit…The first man was of the dust of the earth, the Second Man from heaven…And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the Man from heaven.”
MODELS OF MASCULINITY: INTEGRITYOFMASCULINITYMODELS OF MASCULINITY:I Timothy 2:5-6: “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all men…”John 4:29 (Samaritan Woman): “Come see a man…”Ephesians 4:13: “…become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITY“Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.” (James 1:21)
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONTEMPLATION:Proverbs 4:23: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”Proverbs 23:7: “As a man thinks in his heart, so he is.”Proverbs 27:19: “As water reflects the face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONTEMPLATION:“For as a man thinks (Lit. “reckons in his soul”), so he is” (NASV).Eyes = “Windows of your soul”Proverbs 4:25, 27: “Let your eyes look straight ahead…do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your froot from evil.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONTEMPLATION:Proverbs 6:25: (Warning about an immoral woman or wayward wife): “Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes…” (c.f. Proverbs 5:1-14).
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONTEMPLATION:Proverbs 23:26: “My son, give me your heart and let your eyes keep to my ways, for a prostitute is a deep pit and a wayward wife is a narrow well.”Job 31:1: “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONTEMPLATION:II Samuel 11:2: (When kings were supposed to be at war) “One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to find out about her…”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONTEMPLATION:Matthew 5:27, 29: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”II Peter 2:14: (False Christians) “With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning…”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONTEMPLATION:Key to Mental VictoryII Corinthians 10:4-5Romans 12:2Philippians 4:8
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCIRCUMCISION:Genesis 17:9-: “Then God said to Abraham, ‘As for you, you must keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come. This is My covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep; Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between Me and you.
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCIRCUMCISION:For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised…My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant…On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household…and circumcised them, as God told him. Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised, and his son Ishmael was thirteen. Abraham and his son Ishmael were both circumcised on that same day.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCIRCUMCISION:Romans 4:11: (Abraham) “…received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe…”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCIRCUMCISION:Romans 2:28-29: “A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit…”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCIRCUMCISION:Galatians 5:6: “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCOMPANIONS:Proverbs 1:10, 15-16, 18-19: “My son, if sinners entice you (sinful friendships), do not give in to them…for their feet rush into sin…These men lie in wait for their own blood; they waylay only themselves!”Proverbs 13:20: “He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCOMPANIONS:Proverbs 12:26: “A righteous man is cautious in friendships…”Proverbs 27:17: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man (friend) sharpens another.”I Corinthians 15:33: “Don’t fool yourselves: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’”Example of Jesus: He prayed all night before He chose His Disciples (Luke 6:12-16)
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYPrinciple: “The choice of your closest friendships will determine the level of your success.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONVERSATION:James 3:1-12Proverbs 4:24: “Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.”Proverbs 10:11: “The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life.”Proverbs 12:18: “Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONVERSATION:Proverbs 16:23-24: “A wise man’s heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction. Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”Proverbs 18:21: “The tongue has the power of life and death…”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONVERSATION:Matthew 12:34: “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCONVERSATION:Psalm 141:3: “Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.”Colossians 4:6: “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”Psalm 19:14: “May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCLOTHING:Luke 24:49: “You are my witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what My Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYCLOTHING:Ephesians 4:20-24: “You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYColossians 3:1-14: “Since you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYBecause of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.”
INTEGRITYOFMORALITYTherefore, as God’s chosen people, hold and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”Colossians 3:1-14
INTEGRITYOFMORALITY CONCLUSIONSGod does not want us to be “Men of Immaturity” who are characterized by things like: ignorance, individualism, isolation, irresponsibility, idolatry, impurity and impotence. Men who are only sad imitations of masculinity and manhood.2. He wants us to become “Men of Integrity” through our contemplation, circumcision, companions, conversation and clothing.
INTEGRITYOFMORALITY CONCLUSIONS3. By these commitments we will become more and more mature – “attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13).4. Since Christ alone is the “…image of the invisible God” and in Him “…all of the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form” (Colossians 2:9) – we can ONLY reach our full manhood in Him.
INTEGRITYOFMORALITY CONCLUSIONS5. As Paul said: “In Him you have been made complete” (Colossians 2:10).Also, it is only “In Christ” that you enjoy and experience the following spiritual realities described by Paul:
INTEGRITYOFMORALITY CONCLUSIONS“In Him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ” (Colossians 2:11-14).
INTEGRITYOFMORALITY CONCLUSIONS8. And once you have been “made alive with Christ” through the new birth, God wants you to “…grow up in all things into Him who is the Head, that is Christ” (Ephesians 4:15).
INTEGRITYOFMORALITY CONCLUSIONSOnly Jesus was a perfectly mature Man. Only He lived a life of perfect integrity that glorified God in everything He did and said.So only “in Him” and “through Him” can you increasingly become a “Man of Integrity.”
INTEGRITY OF MORALITY CONCLUSIONS 10. And only as a “Man of Integrity” will these truths be a reality in your masculinity, morality, money, marriage, ministry and message:“The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out” (Proverbs 10:9).“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity” (Proverbs 11:3).“Righteousness guards the man of integrity; but wickedness overthrows the sinner” (Proverbs 13:6).“A good name is more desirable than great riches, to be esteemed is better than silver or gold” (Proverbs 22:1).“The righteous are as bold as a lion” (Proverbs 28:1)

He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church… each one of you must love his wife as he loves himself” (Ephesians 5:29-33).
“HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE” A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITYINMARRIAGE“HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE”A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH…6. LEARNINGA. “Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives (“…live with your wives in an understanding way; Gk. = gnosin; lit. “according to knowledge; with understanding…” NASV), and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers” (1 Peter 3:7).

He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you” [Clean = katharos, or “free from impurity; admixture; without spot or blemish” ] (John 15:1-3).
“HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE” A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITYINMARRIAGE“HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE”A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH…6. LEARNINGD. “Since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fill his marital duty [“…affection due her” NKJV; or “conjugal rights”]to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife’s body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband’s body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife. Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control” (I Corinthians 7:2-5).

“HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE” INTEGRITYINMARRIAGE“HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE”CONCLUSIONS1. These principles of “Integrity in Marriage” show why polygamy is impossible from a spiritual, emotional and physical standpoint.2. No man can come close to fulfilling all of these duties and responsibilities to more than one woman!
“HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE” INTEGRITYINMARRIAGE“HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE”CONCLUSIONS3. While a man is capable of having sexual intercourse with many women – he cannot be a responsible Biblical husband to more than one woman.4. So God’s Word is clear that as the Creator of man and woman – masculinity and femininity, His intention was for one man to be married to one woman for life!
“HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE” INTEGRITYINMARRIAGE“HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE”CONCLUSIONS5. Anything less than that does not Glorify God, satisfy us, or edify our children.6. May we be “Men of Integrity” in Marriage!
