You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands, you put everything under his feet; all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim in the paths of the sea. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross! INTEGRITY OF MASCULINITY

MODELS OF MASCULINITY: I Corinthians 15:47-49: The first man Adam became a living being. The last Adam, a life- giving spirit…The first man was of the dust of the earth, the Second Man from heaven…And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the Man from heaven. This is My covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep; Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between Me and you. INTEGRITY OF MORALITY

CIRCUMCISION: For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised…My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant…On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household…and circumcised them, as God told him. I Corinthians 15:33: Dont fool yourselves:Bad company corrupts good character. Example of Jesus: He prayed all night before He chose His Disciples (Luke 6:12-16) INTEGRITY OF MORALITY

Principle: The choice of your closest friendships will determine the level of your success. INTEGRITY OF MORALITY

CONVERSATION: James 3:1-12 Proverbs 4:24: Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Proverbs 10:11: The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life. INTEGRITY OF MORALITY Proverbs 12:18: Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Matthew 12:34: For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. INTEGRITY OF MORALITY CONVERSATION:

Psalm 141:3: Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Psalm 19:14: May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. 38 CLOTHING: Luke 24:49: You are my witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what My Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. INTEGRITY OF MORALITY

CLOTHING: Ephesians 4:20-24: You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. INTEGRITY OF MORALITY

INTEGRITY OF MORALITY Colossians 3:1-14: Since you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

INTEGRITY OF MORALITY Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

INTEGRITY OF MORALITY Therefore, as Gods chosen people, hold and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:1-14

CONCLUSIONS 1.God does not want us to be Men of Immaturity who are characterized by things like: ignorance, individualism, isolation, irresponsibility, idolatry, impurity and impotence. Men who are only sad imitations of masculinity and manhood. 2. He wants us to become Men of Integrity through our contemplation, circumcision, companions, conversation and clothing. INTEGRITY OF MORALITY

CONCLUSIONS 4. Since Christ alone is the …image of the invisible God and in Him …all of the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form (Colossians 2:9) – we can ONLY reach our full manhood in Him. 3. By these commitments we will become more and more mature – attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13). INTEGRITY OF MORALITY

6.Also, it is only In Christ that you enjoy and experience the following spiritual realities described by Paul: 5. As Paul said: In Him you have been made complete (Colossians 2:10). CONCLUSIONS INTEGRITY OF MORALITY

7.In Him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ (Colossians 2:11-14). CONCLUSIONS INTEGRITY OF MORALITY

8. And once you have been made alive with Christ through the new birth, God wants you to …grow up in all things into Him who is the Head, that is Christ (Ephesians 4:15). CONCLUSIONS INTEGRITY OF MORALITY

9.Only Jesus was a perfectly mature Man. Only He lived a life of perfect integrity that glorified God in everything He did and said. So only in Him and through Him can you increasingly become a Man of Integrity. INTEGRITY OF MORALITY CONCLUSIONS

INTEGRITY OF MORALITY 10. And only as a Man of Integrity will these truths be a reality in your masculinity, morality, money, marriage, ministry and message: The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out (Proverbs 10:9). The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity (Proverbs 11:3). Righteousness guards the man of integrity; but wickedness overthrows the sinner (Proverbs 13:6). A good name is more desirable than great riches, to be esteemed is better than silver or gold (Proverbs 22:1). The righteous are as bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1)

A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE 1. LANGUAGE A. (Creation of woman) This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman because she was taken out of man (Genesis 2:23). C. Song of Solomon B. Ear gate = aroused & nurtured

A. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24). 2. LEAVING A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

2. LEAVING A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE B. 53 C. (Echoed by Paul) For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh (Ephesians 5:31). 2. LEAVING A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

3. LEADING A. (Moses of God) In your unfailing love you will lead the people You have redeemed (Exodus 15:13). B. (Good Shepherd) …He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul… (Psalm 23:2). A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

3. LEADING C. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. (Isaiah 40:11) A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

3. LEADING D. (Good Shepherd) He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out…he goes on ahead of them and his sheep follow him because they know his voice (John 10:3-4) E. Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. (1 Corinthians 11:3) A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

4. LOVING A. Husbands, love (agape) your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Ephesians 5:25). B. Husbands love your wives and do not be harsh with them (Colossians 3:19). A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

4. LOVING C. Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral (Hebrews 12:4). D. (Bride) He has taken me to his banquet hall, and his banner over me is love (Song of Solomon 2:4). A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

5.LABORING A.God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground. (Genesis 1:28) A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

5.LABORING B. To Adam He said, Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, You must not eat of it, Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life (Genesis 3:17). A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

5.LABORING C. …husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church… each one of you must love his wife as he loves himself (Ephesians 5:29-33). A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

6. LEARNING A. Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives (…live with your wives in an understanding way; Gk. = gnosin; lit. according to knowledge; with understanding… NASV), and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers (1 Peter 3:7). A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

6. LEARNING B. Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds (Proverbs 27:23). A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

C. I am the true vine, and My Father is the Gardener [or Husbandman; KJV: Means: to tend carefully]. He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you [Clean = katharos, or free from impurity; admixture; without spot or blemish ] (John 15:1-3). A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE 6. LEARNING

D. Since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fill his marital duty […affection due her NKJV; or conjugal rights]to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wifes body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husbands body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife. Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self- control (I Corinthians 7:2-5). A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE 6. LEARNING

7. LISTENING A. The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice (Proverbs 12:15). B. Everyone should be quick to listen and slow to speak, and slow to become angry (James 1:19). A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

8. LAVISHING A.Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ…in accordance with the riches of Gods grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure… (Ephesians 1:3) A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

8. LAVISHING B. How great is the love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called the children of God (I John 3:1). C. I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well. (II Corinthians 12:14) A HUSBAND LOVES THROUGH… INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

CONCLUSIONS 1. These principles of Integrity in Marriage show why polygamy is impossible from a spiritual, emotional and physical standpoint. 2. No man can come close to fulfilling all of these duties and responsibilities to more than one woman! INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE

CONCLUSIONS INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE 3. While a man is capable of having sexual intercourse with many women – he cannot be a responsible Biblical husband to more than one woman. 4. So Gods Word is clear that as the Creator of man and woman – masculinity and femininity, His intention was for one man to be married to one woman for life!

5. Anything less than that does not Glorify God, satisfy us, or edify our children. 6. May we be Men of Integrity in Marriage! CONCLUSIONS INTEGRITY IN MARRIAGE HOW A HUSBAND IS TO LOVE HIS WIFE
