9 Journal #26: Community –In the novel, community is an important thematic topic. The neighbors (Tull and Cora) feel a sense of duty/obligation to help out the Bundren family. Consider this: in the first six chapters, two are narrated by Cora; also, Faulkner includes other narrator besides family in this tale. Therefore, one might say that community=family, especially in a southern town. –Write about your own community. How would you describe Ste. Gen? Is there a familial feeling one experiences as a member of the community?

18 Journal #28: Death In chapter 11, Peabody (the doctor) finally visits Addie and shares with the readers many ideas on death. –Pull one quote on death (write it out; include page number), and comment on that quote. Do you agree with Peabody’s comment. In chapter 12, Addie dies. However, the story of her death is “told” by Darl. Answer the following question: –Why is Addie’s passing told from Darl’s perspective when he and Jewel are the two that have left?
