Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” God does not always view things the way we do, but it is His thoughts on the matter that really matter.

Joshua 6:3-4 Time to Conquer Jericho “And you shall march around the city... for six days. Then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow their trumpets.”

1 Samuel 16:7 Time to Replace King Saul “The Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

What is a Christian? People have lots of different ideas about what it means to be a Christian… What matters most is God’s idea of a Christian!

What is a Christian? People have lots of different ideas about what it means to be a Christian… What matters most is God’s idea of a Christian! There are three times in the New Testament where we find the word “Christian”

1. Acts 11:26 “The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.”

1. Acts 11:26 “The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.” Isaiah 62:2 “And the nations will see your righteousness, and all the kings your glory, and you will be called by a new name.”

1. Acts 11:26 “The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.” Isaiah 62:2 “And the nations will see your righteousness, and all the kings your glory, and you will be called by a new name.” They were called by a new name because they had experienced a great CHANGE in their lives.

2. Acts 26:28 King Agrippa said to Paul, “Almost you persuade me to be become a Christian.” Agrippa’s response to the gospel stresses the idea of CHOICE in becoming a Christian.

2. Acts 26:28 King Agrippa said to Paul, “Almost you persuade me to be become a Christian.” How does one make that CHOICE? Paul said in v29, “I would to God, that whether in a short or long time, not only you, but also all who hear me this day, might become such as I am.”

2. Acts 26:28 King Agrippa said to Paul, “Almost you persuade me to be become a Christian.” How does one make that CHOICE? In Acts 22:16, Ananias had told him, “Arise, and be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on the name of the Lord.”

3. 1 Peter 4:16 “If anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not feel ashamed, but in that name let him glorify God.” The idea of suffering brings about the idea of CHALLENGE.

3. 1 Peter 4:16 “If anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not feel ashamed, but in that name let him glorify God.” The idea of suffering brings about the idea of CHALLENGE. Philippians 1:27-30

3. 1 Peter 4:16 That same CHALLENGE is put before us today… 2 Timothy 3:12 “And indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” Luke 9:23 “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

3. 1 Peter 4:16 That same CHALLENGE is put before us today… 2 Corinthians 6:17 “Come out from among them, and be separate, says the Lord.” Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Philippians 2:5 says, “Let this mind (attitude) be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

God’s Definition It’s a life that is defined by CHANGE… It’s a life that begins by making important CHOICE… It's a life that steadfastly faces the CHALLENGES…

God’s Definition It’s a life that is defined by CHANGE… It’s a life that begins by making important CHOICE… It's a life that steadfastly faces the CHALLENGES… Are you God’s idea of a Christian? Are you proudly wearing the name of Christ?
