3 1: Things that are similar in some ways as+adjective+as Example: This cat is as clean as that one.

4 2: Things that are different not as + adjective +as Example: The Mona Lisa is not as old as Sunflowers. (The Mona Lisa was painted in the 15 th century; Sunflowers was painted in the 19 th century.)

5 Things that are different different from Example: The colour of Alan’s swimming trunks is different from George’s.

6 3:To compare two things using the –er form of adjective + than Example: Aerobics is faster than tai-chi.

7 Exercise: Things that are similar as + adjective + as Karen is 1.5 metres tall. Mary is 1.5 metres tall.  Give me a sentence to compare Karen and Mary. ?

8 Check your answer. Karen is as tall as Mary. OR Mary is as tall as Karen.

9 Exercise: Things that are different: not as + adj. + as Make a sentence to compare: a hill a mountain ?

10 Check your answer. A hill is not as big as a mountain. OR A hill is not as high as a mountain.

11 Exercise: Things that are different  different from Think of two things that are different. Make a sentence. You may think about your looks and the things around you. ?

12 These are some examples: My handwriting is different from yours. Miss Chrissie’s colour of hair is different from ours. My voice is different from yours. Sam’s marks are different from John’s. My E.R.S. storybook is different from Sam’s.

13 Exercise: To compare two things using -er than Make sentences using summer, hot, spring sending a parcel by air, fast, sending a parcel by sea. ?

14 Check your answers. Summer is hotter than spring. Sending a parcel by air is faster than sending a parcel by sea.
