1 Cedar seeds are found in mountainous areas - most commonly in Arkansas, Missouri, Texas and Mexico. Although most cedars pollinate and cause allergy symptoms in the spring, the mountain cedar of the south central U.S. states reproduces in the winter and may cause severe allergic rhinitis. Some types of cedar trees produce especially prolific amounts of allergenic pollen, including Japanese cedar and mountain cedar. Watery eyes Itchy, runny nose Nasal congestion Sneezing Headache Fatigue Itchy or sore throat The feeling of “clogged” ears Trees are usually done pollinating by late spring, leaving mostly grasses and weeds to trigger summer allergies. Pollen Runny nose Itchy eyes Come late summer, about 10% to 20% of Americans begin to suffer from ragweed allergy, or hay fever. Of Americans who are allergic to pollen- producing plants, 75% are allergic to ragweed. Ragweed releases pollen into the air, and continues until frost kills the plant. Eye irritation Runny/stuffy nose Sneezing Inflamed, itchy nose and throat Those with severe allergies to ragweed may experience: Asthma attacks Chronic sinusitis Headaches Impaired sleep MyAllergyTest ® is the first and only at-home allergy test cleared by the FDA that allows you, with one tiny finger prick, to find out which of the 10 most common allergens may trigger allergies, along with a personalized plan for allergy management. This one test screens for a combination of food, animal, inhalant, and environmental allergens, including: www.myallergytest.net OVER

2 Egg is one of the most common causes of food allergy, particularly in children. Egg white proteins Egg yolk Atopic dermatitis (eczema) Urticaria (hives) Asthma Allergic rhinitis Digestive symptoms In severe cases: Anaphylactic shock Milk allergy is not a major allergen for adults. However, cow's milk is the most common food allergen in American children, affecting 2.5 percent of the youth population. Drinking milk proteins, casein and whey Atopic dermatitis (eczema) Urticaria (hives) In severe cases: Asthma Anaphylactic shock Wheat is one of the eight most common food allergies in the U.S. Reaction to wheat can occur within minutes or even hours later. Eating or inhaling foods that contain wheat Atopic dermatitis (eczema) Urticaria (hives) Allergic rhinitis Digestive symptoms In severe cases: Asthma Anaphylactic shock NEXT

3 31.5 million of the U.S. population (10%) has allergies to pets, though those with cat allergies have twice the prevalence of those with dog allergies. About 20% to 30% of people with allergic asthma have severe flare- ups after coming in contact with a cat. Symptoms can appear within minutes or even hours later. Proteins in the cat’s saliva, urine or dander (dried flakes of skin) Coughing and wheezing Hives or a rash on the chest and face Red, itchy eyes Redness of the skin where a cat has scratched, bitten, or licked you Runny, itchy, stuffy nose Sneezing About 20 million Americans (6.3%) have a dust mite allergy. Dust mites may be the most common cause of year-round allergy and asthma. These microscopic organisms are found all over the home, particularly in textile items like pillows, bedding, mattresses, etc. Proteins in the dust mites’ excrement Morning or post-sleep allergic rhinitis symptoms (as a result of being in bed with these organisms) Sneezing Itchy, watery eyes Itchy ears, throat & nose Specimens of Alternaria mold are commonly found indoors growing on carpets, textiles and horizontal surfaces such as window frames. Outdoors, it is found in soil, seeds and plants. It appears as a velvety tuft with long soft hairs and its color ranges from dark olive green/bluish to brown. Airborne exposure Sneezing Itching Nasal discharge Congestion Dry, scaling skin While any airborne mold can worsen asthma, allergy to the mold Alternaria specifically has been associated with severe asthma exacerbations
