4. Lower Secondary Curriculum
Years 7-9 (age 11-14) - 3-year curriculum programme
Based on the National Curriculum for England but adapted for an international setting
Subjects studied are English (First Language), Maths (Year 8), Science, Chinese (First or Foreign Language) or French (Foreign Language), Art, IGCSE Physical Education, Design Technology, Geography, History, ICT, Drama, Bahasa Malaysia, Physical Education, PSE.
All students sit Cambridge administered Checkpoint tests at the end of Year 9 in English, Maths and Science

5. Upper Secondary Curriculum
Years 10 and 11 (age 14-16) - Two year curriculum programme
All students follow a core of English (First Language & Literature), Maths, Foreign Language (Chinese or French) and PE/PSE (non-examination subjects)
Students choose six options from Art & Design, Bahasa Malaysia, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Design Technology, Drama, Geography, History, ICT, Music, PE, Physics
All students sit Cambridge-administered IGCSEs at the end of the course (students can also enter for the ICE as an additional qualification)

6. Sixth Form Curriculum
Years 12 and 13 (age16-18) -Two year curriculum programme
All students follow our unique Core programme, comprising AS Global Perspectives, Careers advice, University Counselling and PSE
Students choose three, four or five AS-Level subjects to take in Year 12
These either continue into year 13 to be converted into full A-Levels or can be dropped or changed for different AS-Levels in Year 13.
Sixth Form has the support of a school environment and small class sizes but encourages development of independent learning skills and leadership
International Award programme encourages students to develop their interests outside the formal curriculum

7. Base-line testing and ‘Value-Added’
All students sit CAT Assessments in their year of entry and then again in Year 10.
Gives an indication of ability in four key areas (Non-Verbal, Verbal, Spatial Awareness and Quantitative Reasoning)
Allows us to set meaningful targets for all students and for you as parents to see what are realistic expectations for your child.
These are independent of any content they might learn at school.

8. Assessment at TISS - what’s it for?
Monitor student progress effectively
Help teaching staff to plan and revise units of work effectively
Identify students who need additional support or extension work
Allow students to assess their own performance and set targets for their own improvement
Report to parents and other schools/colleges when necessary

9. Developing rounded individuals

Sporting Activities Programme- regular involvement with other schools
Annual Horizons Week Trips for all students

10. Co-Curricular Programme
Emphasis on taking part and improvement. Many sports activities have both recreational and team options
Students do at least one sports activity per week but can do as many as 10
School finishes at 2.20/4.00/5.20pm depending if students are taking part in activities
Team sport trials run at the start/end of terms
Many activities are free - modest charges for others
The 1% Club, The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

11. Parents Association (TSPA) and Student Council (STUCO)
Both organise a variety of events around school and act as a discussion forum for all of our parents/students
Supports and complements the work we are doing in school as well as giving a forum for voicing concerns and suggestions
TSPA committee members/helpers always welcome – ;

15. Admission into TISS Pre-registration is open now (no fees required)
Students entering from SCIPS all receive ranking points into our admissions system.
Additional points also available.
Registration for any student with ranking points starts 1st February. All other registrations are considered from 1st March onwards.
All students sit entrance assessments and most are interviewed as part of the registration process.
