1 Are There Angels and Demons?
Both angels and demons are talked about throughout the Old and New Testament Angels and demons are both beings created by God, although demons are fallen angels who rebelled against God Angels and demons already have their destiny determined based on the rebellion of Satan Demons cannot change and become angels as they cannot receive Christ to save them

2 What are angels and demons?
Hebrew word, “malak”, means “messenger” Greek word, “aggelos”, means “messenger” or “envoy of God” “Devil” Greek word, “diabolos”, means accuser, slanderer

3 Known Angel Names Michael, the Archangel Gabriel
Top angel is heaven, probably took Lucifer’s place Battled with Satan over the body/bones of Moses Gabriel Messenger to Mary Probably top messenger angel

4 Types of Angels Cherubim – dedicated to the worship of God
Seraphim – worship God as well Guardian angels – protect people “Angel of the Lord” – messenger angel referenced in many OT and NT passages Similar military structure likely as we see in the Psalms passage that angels do battle for us

5 Characteristics of Angels
Do the will of God Praise God and sing “Holy, Holy, Holy” Battle against the fallen angels Have wings and can fly In some cases in the Bible (such as in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah), they come disguised as people Will be in heaven at the end of the age

6 Characteristics of Demons
Do the will of Satan, to attack the will of God Battles against angels May have wings and can fly, if they retained the quality that angels have Demons can deceive even Christians Demons can possess non-Christians and heavily oppress Christians Will be cast into hell at the end of the age

7 Satan’s Fall and Fallen Angels
Satan was cast out of heaven Satan took one-third of all the angels with him (Rev. 12:14) Some of the angels were bound and chained in darkness/hell

9 Roles of Fallen Angels Fallen Angels form a military structure with many levels which is similar to angels Principalities – control over a major geographical region or continent Powers – control over cities Familiar spirits – demons that know a family and the background of the family, often impersonating someone such as a deceased person

10 End for Demons Will be cast into Hell prepared for the (Satan) Devil and his angels Will be cast into the Lake of Fire (Greek, “Gehenna” – trash dump near Jerusalem where garbage was burned) Will no longer tempt or torment man

11 In Revelation we will win in the end after the final battle against Satan and his demons; we will then worship the King of Kings! The Prince of Peace
