The Road to Emmaus: Luke 24:13-35

- Jesus would be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14) Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. - Jesus would heal people (Isaiah 35:5-6) Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer and the mute tongue shoutfor joy. - Jesus would be sinless (Isaiah 53:9) He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.

- Jesus would be betrayed by a friend (Psalm 55:12-14) If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were raising himself against me, I could hide from him. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship as we walked with the throng at the house of God. - Jesus would be crucified (Psalm 22:16) Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet.

- Jesus would be buried in a rich man’s tomb (Isaiah 53:9) He was assigned a grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death. - Jesus would rise again (Psalm 16:10) You will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.

The Road to Emmaus: Luke 24:13-35

1)Faith. Cleopas and Mary saw and believed that Jesus died and rose again; Jesus asks us to believe without seeing Without faith it is impossible to please God, b/c anyone who comes to God must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

1)Faith. Cleopas and Mary saw and believed that Jesus died and rose again; Jesus asks us to believe without seeing. 2)The resurrection matters. If Jesus didn’t rise from the dead, our faith is useless. If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is you faith…. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile…. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. 1 Corinthians 15:14, 17, 19
