4 Differences Between Halal and Kosher Foods 1. Islam prohibits intoxicants, including alcohol, liquors and wines, whereas in Judaism alcohol and wine are kosher. So kosher foods can contain alcohol. For Islam such foods would be considered haram. 2. Gelatin is considered kosher by Jews but not by Muslims. 3. Kosher practice does not require Jews to pronounce the name of God on the animals while slaughtering, but Muslims must pronounce the name of Allah on all animals while in the act of slaughtering.
