2 CARACAS Caracas is the capital city of Venezuela. It is situated in a valley surrounded by hills and forested mountains, Caracas is a very populated metropolis. 4 The North West The North West of Caracas has a long history. This was one of the regions where Columbus first landed. Coro and Maracaibo, the 2 nd most populous cities, served as ports for trading with the Netherlands Antilles. Venezuela's most treasured seashores, Parque Nacional Morrocoy is located along the coast line. The Angel Falls - the world's most vertiginous waterfall.
