2 I Corinthians 11:17-34 23. For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24. and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me." 25. In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

7 Representation Defined: Depiction of someone or something “This is my…body/blood” v. 24 & 25; Mt. 26:26-29 Is it wrong to call it a ‘representation’ of the body and the blood of Christ? Is it literally the body and blood? This representation helps us remember/commemorate the sacrifice of Christ!

8 “In Remembrance Of Me”: The Purpose of the Lord’s Supper is... Proclamation Defined: A clear declaration of something “…you proclaim the Lord’s death…” v. 26 By partaking we are proclaiming our faith in Christ! I Peter 2:9-10; Hebrews 10:19-25

Dedication Defined: The quality of being committed to a purpose Whoever eats or drinks “in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood” v. 27 We are told to “walk worthy”! Ephesians 4:1-3 How do we do that? By putting Christ first! Matthew 10:37-38 We cannot partake of the Lord’s Supper unless we are dedicated to Christ! I Cor. 10:14-21

Examination Defined: A detailed inspection “a man must examine himself” v. 28 We are to examine ourselves always! 2 Cor. 13:5 We are to examine ourselves to determine if we have TRUE: Repentance - Matthew 3:8 Faith - John 14:15 Dedication - Matthew 6:33

Communication Defined: The sharing or exchanging of thoughts and feelings “..when you come together to eat, wait for one another.” v. 33 When we partake of the Lord’s supper we are sharing or having fellowship together in the blessing of Christ! I Cor. 10:16-17; 2 Cor. 6:14-18

13 “In Remembrance Of Me”: The RESULT of the Lord’s Supper is... Condemnation (IF we don’t properly examine ourselves) Defined: Sentencing someone to a particular punishment “…eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.” v. 29 "But...we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world." v. 32, Heb 12:5-11 We do not want to be eternally condemned! Matthew 7:21-23
