5 Calculate Your Pay  You work in a department store. You earn $7.50 per hour plus 1% of all sales you make each pay period. You worked 80 hours and sold $200 per hour. What was your GROSS earnings? –$200 sales/hr X 80 hours = $16,000 –$16,000 in sales X.01 (1%) = $160 –80 hours X $7.50 = $600 –Total pay = $160 + $600 = $760 –Annual pay = $720 X 50 = $37,500

6 Calculate Your Pay  Now you calculate  You work selling by phone. You earn $3.50 per hour plus 5% of all sales you make each pay period. You worked 80 hours and sold $100 per hour. What was your GROSS earnings? –$100 sales/hr X 80 hours = $8,000 –$8,000 in sales X.05 (5%) = $400 –80 hours X $3.50 = $280 –Total pay = $280 + $400 = $680 –Annual pay = $680 X 50 = $34,000

7 Calculate Your Pay  You work selling a product. Your salary is $48,000 per year. You make a commission of 2% of all sales. You sell about $2,000,000 per year. What was your GROSS earnings for the year? –$2,000,000 in sales X.02 (2%) = $40,000 –Annual salary = $48,000 –Annual pay = $40,000 + $48,000 = $88,000 –What is your bi weekly pay from your salary? –What is your monthly commission?
