“In the beginning, God created Waters of the earth…”

And there was life… God saw that it was good.

The rain touches the earth to give freshness of life.

The nature opens its wings and begins to sprout new life

Water not only provides new life, but rest to one’s body and soul. “Besides still waters he restores my soul.” (Ps. 23)

Every drop is precious. The drops make up an occean. Each one is precious in the eyes of God. We make up an occean of life.

Water nourishes and brings forth the desired fruits in every living beings. How much do we nourish others and brings forth the desired fruits?

Water quenches the thirsty. It refreshes the weary traveller. How much do we thirst for God? “As the deer that longs for the running streams, so my soul thirsts for you, O God.” (Ps. 63)

Water in various forms refreshes man’s physical needs. Does the living water refresh our spiritual need? “I am the living water…He who believes in me shall never thirst.” (Jn.4: 14)

Water symbolises life in liturgy. One enters new life through the baptism of water, becoming new person in Christ.

Water cleanses. It purifies us from the dirt. “wash me, I shall be whiter than snow.” (Ps. 51:7)

Water heals. God not only washes us clean but heals our spiritual wounds.

Water destroys too. Flood, and polluted waters can harm us. The destructive nature in us need to be controlled.

Without water, life is a struggle. Without the rain, the land goes dry and lifeless. Without the God’s rain of blessings, we can become lifeless.

The river always flows. It makes the trees grow. They are ever ready to satisfy the needs of others without any reserve. They are the examples of sacrifice, a service without reward.
