International Marketing Kentucky Department of Agriculture The Division of International Marketing… Identifies U.S. export and foreign import regulations, and provides assistance in obtaining the necessary documentation and other requirements. Customizes market research focused on products and their target markets Promotes seminars and conferences which focus on international trade and foreign markets

International Marketing Kentucky Department of Agriculture The Division of International Marketing… Coordinates visits from foreign buyers to Kentucky agriculture and agriculture-related producers, value- added production and manufacturing facilities, and promotional events. Provides opportunities for Kentucky companies to participate in trade shows and trade missions in order to meet prospective foreign clients. Accompanies delegations to trade shows and leads trade missions to certain foreign markets to provide on the ground assistance to Kentucky companies when meeting prospective foreign clients.

International Marketing Kentucky Agricultural & Commercial Trade Office Since 1997, the Kentucky Agricultural & Commercial Trade Office (KACTO) has operated in Guadalajara, Mexico. The office assists Kentucky companies interested in exporting their goods and services to Mexico. The office is a joint venture which is equally funded by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.

International Marketing Kentucky Agricultural & Commercial Trade Office On the agricultural side, KACTO is currently working with Kentucky companies to promote value-added food products, forest products, veterinary products, and equine-related products. KACTO’s “Blue Key” service allows Kentucky companies to work with the office to develop a customized agenda of one-on-one meetings with Mexican companies. KACTO staff conduct market research to determine the potential success for a company’s products and pre- qualifies interested Mexican companies prior to the trip to ensure that the meetings are beneficial for all involved.

International Marketing Southern United States Trade Association Established in 1973, SUSTA’s mission is to assist exporters of high-value food and certain agricultural products from the southern United States. SUSTA is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service, its member states, and private companies. The membership of SUSTA is comprised of the Departments of Agriculture of the 15 southern states and Puerto Rico.

International Marketing Southern United States Trade Association States work together to conduct a variety of “generic” activities to unite U.S. companies with foreign buyers through participation in trade shows, outbound trade missions, inbound trade missions and one-on-one meetings. Kentucky is currently co-managing activities in the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and China.

International Marketing Southern United States Trade Association States also recruit companies for participation in the Market Access Program Branded, which provides companies up to 50% reimbursement for international marketing expenses, such as eligible marketing activities, trade show participation, advertising, etc.

International Marketing Hardwood States Export Group The Hardwood States Export Group is a coalition of trade specialists from thirteen states who are responsible for international marketing of hardwood products in their respective states. With the assistance of the American Hardwood Export Council, this group collaborates on multi-state projects that increase sales for U.S. wood product companies through the development of international markets and opportunities. Kentucky co-managed the activity at Interzum Guangzhou in March 2011 and will be co-managing an activity in China in 2012.

International Marketing American Hardwood Export Council AHEC is the leading international trade association for the U.S. hardwood industry, representing companies and trade associations engaged in the export of a full range of U.S. hardwood products. AHEC provides the global hardwood industry with promotional assistance, technical information and sources of supply for U.S. hardwoods from its offices in Europe, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and China.
