Commercial Plant Production
Areas in the nursery where plants are raised for cutting propagation. Usually irrigated. Annual rejuvenation pruning.
Place in the nursery where plant propagation occurs: Cutting propagation, seed propagation, grafting, etc.
1) Protection 2) Provide conditions for optimal plant growth. 3) Place where small liners are grown into larger liners.
Notice the grass strips between production blocks.
Gravel or paved area used to hold plant material after it has been harvested. Irrigated. Sometimes called a Holding Yard, or just “Yard”.
At a smaller nursery the Loading Area is often just part of the Holding Area.
Place in a nursery where liners are transplanted into containers.
Place in a nursery where bare-root stock can be maintained in a dormant condition prior to lining-out. Temperature controlled. Humidity controlled. Imagine working in here all winter-people do!
This unit is similar to what we have in the Horticulture/Floral Careers building.
May be included in a holding area. Provides shade and irrigation to help “acclimate” freshly dug plant material.
