Define the domain and characteristics of the Innovation Identify the value propositions and the architecture of the value Describe how to make a business Tool 1 ISMA 360° (1st step) Tool 2 The Business Model Canvas Tool 3 The « light» Business Plan Communicate the new business Tool 5 The Pitch Tool 4 DEFI sotware

© ISMA360® Dominique VIAN SKEMA BS What is ISMA360 ? ISMA360® is a new way of designing an innovative project. It is a dynamic which enables an innovative entrepreneur to build his project step by step by following a logical process, without using prediction of the future. Here we focus on defining the domain and characteristics of the Innovation invention (1) Markets of the invention (4) Usages (3) Invention Domain Domain of innovation (2)

© ISMA360® Dominique VIAN SKEMA BS Domain and characteristics, why are they so important ? Invention means a novelty. Innovation means introducing the invention into a social milieu (Schumpeter, 1942). Entrepreneurs/innovators meets difficulties for explaining easily what they intent to do. The problem area (domain) to be solved is crucial. Entrepreneurs have to fix it. This can be cause of failures. One of the main concern when you deal with innovation is about cognitive issues.

© ISMA360® Dominique VIAN SKEMA BS Core innovation description Hybrid seed making flower in 30’ (as a result: a beautiful flower measuring 30 cms). It’s your invention !

© ISMA360® Dominique VIAN SKEMA BS Core innovation description Characteristic 1: Beautiful flower Role: Grows more quickly Context: Ornamental horticulture Characteristic 2: Stem about 30 cm Characteristic 3: Flower grows from seed in 30 minutes role + context define the domain of innovation = Fast growing ornamental horticulture inventi on (1) Market of the inventi on (4) Usages (3) Domain of innovation (2)

© ISMA360® Dominique VIAN SKEMA BS Core innovation description in case of new characteristic (edible flower) Characteristic 1: Beautiful flower Role: Grows more quickly Context: Horticulture Characteristic 2: Stem about 30 cm Characteristic 3: Flower grows from seed in 30 minutes Characteristic 4: Edible flower with good flavour inventi on (1) Market of the inventi on (4) Usages (3) Domain of innovation (2)

© ISMA360® Dominique VIAN SKEMA BS Core innovation description in case of characteristic change (not beautiful flower) Characteristic 1: Unattractive flower Role: Grows more quickly Context: Food producing horticulture Characteristic 2: Stem about 30 cm Characteristic 3: Flower grows from seed in 30 minutes Characteristic 4: Edible flower with good flavour inventi on (1) Market of the inventi on (4) Usages (3) Domain of innovation (2)

© ISMA360® Dominique VIAN SKEMA BS Core innovation description in case of characteristic change (not beautiful flower and less water consuming) Characteristic 1: Unattractive flower Role: Grows more quickly and needs less water Context: Food producing horticulture Characteristic 2: Stem about 30 cm Characteristic 3: Flower grows from seed in 30 minutes Characteristic 3: Edible flower with good flavour Characteristic 5: Half as much water as other flowers inventi on (1) Market of the inventi on (4) Usages (3) Domain of innovation (2)

characteristic 1 Visible or measurable facts describing the invention characteristic 2 Other visible or measurable facts describing the invention characteristic n Other visible or measurable facts describing the invention … Invention (something new, can be a new idea or intuition) The invention 30/09/2011 inventi on (1) Market of the inventi on (4) Usages (3) Domain of innovation (2)

characteristic 1 Visible or measurable facts describing the invention Description of main role Start with an action verb describing what the innovation will provide new to the context (as a solution to the problem to be solved) Context Referent /related problem universe characteristic 2 Other visible or measurable facts describing the invention characteristic n Other visible or measurable facts describing the invention … Innovation (introduction into a social milieu) Invention (something new) Invention and innovation 30/09/2011 11 inventi on (1) Market of the inventi on (4) Usages (3) Domain of innovation (2)

characteristic 1Context Description of main role characteristic 2: characteristic 3: Innovation (Potential market space of the Invention) Defining the scope: Context + Role 30/09/2011 12 Source: Dominique Vian The greater the level of abstraction, the lower the limits of the problem Context + role define the domain of innovation Invention (Uniqueness of the Invention) inventi on (1) Market of the inventi on (4) Usages (3) Domain of innovation (2)

Innovation domain and potential key needs Innovation domain name Key need : © ISMA360® Dominique VIAN SKEMA BS Fast growing ornamental horticulture Reduce delivering cost (transport) Reduce storing cost + enable storage in a small back-store Diminish people costs Fulfil an urgent need of flowers Enjoy a magic phenomenon inventi on (1) Market of the inventi on (4) Usages (3) Domain of innovation (2)
