Bankers refused to lend anymore He avoided paying debt until faced bankruptcy. His proposal to tax the nobility led to a call of the meeting of the Estates General.

14 July 14, 1789 Bastille and Great Fear Louis Gives in and tells other estates to join National Assembly Sensing trouble he stationed mercenaries (Swiss) in Paris Rumor that foreign troops were coming. Led to demand for gunpowder at Bastille. Rumors Spread quickly and led to further rebellion

16 March on Versailles National Assembly ends Feudalism and issues the Declaration of the Rights of Man Riot over bread prices (mostly women) Marched from Paris to Versailles building strength along the way When they arrived at Versailles demanded king come to Paris with them.
