An average family consisted of more than two children until the end of the 1960s then this number kept incresing and now it is below 2. Nowadays in avarge family there is 1,4 children. During World War II. men were sent to the fronts, so there was a huge need for labour work. Women started working in factories, by the end of the 1950s more than 35% women were working and a quarter of them was married.
Jobs and women Women were sent home after they got married. Jobs were mainly industrial and agricultural, secretarial work. Women were still obligated to the status of housewife and men were the main breadwinners in the family. Children, including teenagers, were to be seen and not heard but by the mid-1950’s, that was becoming more difficult because of newfound freedoms, rock and roll music, and other outlets teenagers had available to them.
