The person I admire by Rostislav Shamarin
The person that I admire the most is hero of the Great Patriotic War Nikolai Vladimirovich Sirotinin. Nikolai Vladimirovich Sirotinin born March 7, 1921 in the city of Orel.
Unfortunately his photographs are not preserved.
His dad's name was Vladimir Kuzmich Sirotinin he was the driver of the locomotive. His mother's name was Helen Korneevna Sirotinina, she was a housewife.
The family Sirotinin had five children. Nikolai was the second child in the family. Nicholas was gentle, hard- working boy. He helped raise his younger brothers and sisters. After school he worked at the "Tekmash" in Orel as a turner.
Nicholas was drafted into the army in October There he trained as an artilleryman. During the war he served as a gunner. In June 1941, Nikolai Sirotinin was wounded, but recovered and was sent to the front.
July 17, 1941 in Belorussia the Soviet troops were retreating under the onslaught of the legendary German fourth tank division Heinz Guderian. Nineteen year old Nikolai Sirotinin volunteered to to cover the retreat of his regiment.
Artilleryman disguised gun and prepared shells. Nikolai attacked German colonnade morning near the bridge over the river Dobrоst. He single-handedly destroyed 11 tanks, 7 armored vehicles, 57 soldat and officers.
Nikolai also died, but the task performed. Enemies admired his heroism, and was buried with military honors.
Nicholai Sirotinin later reburied on the riverbank Sog. Erected a monument over the grave. I admire the bravery and courage the young artilleryman.
