11 The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons, October 16, 1834, exhibited 1835 One critic wrote of these two paintings as “a splendid impossibility.“ (Warrell) Turner painted both pictures with the fire blowing over the Thames river. In reality, the flames blew in the other direction towards Westminster Abbey. ( Warrell )
