The club will also support the horse community in northern Virginia through charitable and community service events so that horses and equestrian activities can thrive and grow in our area. The club will also reach out to the George Mason University Student body by participation in campus organized events. IHSA The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association was founded on the principle that any college student should be able to participate in horse shows regardless of his or her financial status or riding levels. Emphasis is on learning, sportsmanship, and fun. Competition play a role but the students’ enthusiasm and team spirit are the major factors. The objective of the IHSA competition is to offer the opportunity to riders in the first years of riding as well as to students with show experience. Eliminating the expense of shipping or even owning horses puts IHSA competition within reach of many who would otherwise miss out on an equestrian experience. The gMU Equestrian Club competes in Zone 4, Region 1 against 16 other colleges and universities.
