4 Class Selection Keep the following in mind: Look at the legend when choosing your courses (audition/application/prerequisites/etc…) When choosing your classes keep HS graduation requirements, “a-g” requirements, and course of study requirements in mind Grades will be taken into consideration for class placement Review the Math & Science Flow Chart Re-read the Registration Guide for more information!

7 Registration Form Use #2 pencil ONLY – PRINT CLEARLY Fill in due date & PATHWAY on BACK OF FORM If you will not be attending SSHS next year, still turn a form in, but write at the top where you will be attending school If you plan to take a go ahead summer course, please make a note on the side of what you plan to take. You must still fill in your form as if you are not taking a summer class. You will need to get permission from your counselor at 1:1 Registration You will meet with your counselor one on one to turn in your form & Honors/AP Contract if applicable Do not be absent on pick-up day! No form? We choose for you!! Listen carefully to instructions. 1. Alternative courses are very important! 2. Be accurate with course numbers! (course numbers & symbols) 3. You are making a serious commitment if taking College Prep, AP or Honors courses. Expect to have summer homework for each course

18 Special Senior Reminders If you haven’t completed 20 credits of Phys Ed you MUST continue to take PE FREE PERIOD ENROLLMENT Must be enrolled in 5 periods. An exemption from enrollment in a class must be approved by your student’s counselor. A student may be eligible for a free period in their senior year only, by meeting all of the following criteria: 1. Must be passing all classes 2. Must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA by the end of Junior year 3. Previous history of satisfactory attendance during the junior year 4. Must be on track with core courses– No remediation necessary 5. Counselor/Parent approval – signed ‘Free Period Request’ Form.

21 Required Signatures Courses with a (TS) Teacher Signature Example: You would like to be in AP English 11. Ask for a signature from your CURRENT English 10 teacher. You must also meet eligibility. Example: You would like to be in AP World History Ask for a signature from your CURRENT English 9 teacher. You must also meet eligibility. Would you like to be in AP or Honors Science next year? You will need to retrieve your current science teachers initial in addition to your previous science teacher. You must also meet eligibility. Student Signature Parent Signature

22 Other Important Information Advanced Placement & Honors courses- It is your responsibly to complete the given summer assignment as stated Check the backside of the form for NEW CLASSES Please bring your questions with you when you register 1:1 with your Counselor Honors/AP Contract needs to be signed and returned with registration form. Contract in packet! Grades will be checked in June. If you do not meet a class pre-req you will be automatically changed into the appropriate class.

23 School If you have failed a class, summer school is recommended. See website for options and obtain permission from your counselor in mid-April. Go Ahead Courses If you are in Leadership or taking a Foreign Language and would like to look into taking History over the summer, see your counselor for information If you sign up to take a go- ahead course and do not follow through or only complete ½ the course the Counseling Department will remove the extra elective and put you back into the required course. If there are not enough seats you will be required to take the course at Adult Ed during the school year. Adult Ed is not ‘a-g’.

24 SIGN & RETURN Clearly write your Name, ID#, Academy, Student Contact Number, TAP teacher LIST THREE ALTERNATIVES CIRCLE YOUR PATHWAY ON THE REVERSE SIDE OF THE FORM RETURN HONORS/AP CONTRACT FAILURE TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION MATERIALS - Counselor will complete a schedule for each student - Students with completed forms and signatures (teachers/parents), and returned Honors/AP Contracts will have priority registration
