William Fulbright of Arkansas Administered overseas by U.S. Embassies and bi- national Fulbright Commissions and Foundations About the Fulbright Program To increase mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and the people of other countries through international educational exchange programs

4 us.fulbrightonline.org Fulbright U.S. Student Program Two Types of Grants Research/Study Grant ~1,000 awards 8-12 months Independent research, study, or creative and performing arts projects abroad English Teaching Assistantships: ~600 awards 8-12 months hours a week helping to teach English and U.S. culture in the classroom Remaining time spent on a community-focused project

Help improve foreign students understanding of English language & U.S. culture Assistant teacher hrs/wk K-12 or university/college Side project emphasizing community engagement Often, less language proficiency required at application, but plans to learn language helpful

10 us.fulbrightonline.org Critical Language Enhancement Award Provides additional funding for language study for eligible Fulbright Grantees who intend to use a critical language for their project Goal to cultivate higher levels of language proficiency prior to, during and beyond the regular Fulbright grant period Application for CLEA is made in conjunction with the Fulbright Program application
