January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 22 om in the Scriptures II

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 33 dx'a The Role of Echad dx'a Previous question #1 1. If the Almighty performs a “separation” on something, can those items ever be “joined” again into a “compound unity”? Yes for the two sticks and Yes for Adam and Eve. What about night and day?

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 44 dx'a The Role of Echad dx'a The light that was formed was separated from the darkness that had been previously created. Genesis 1:4 With Echad dx'a present in the Hebrew text of Genesis 1:5, what do the two witnesses in that Hebrew text tell us about the light and the darkness?

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 55 dx'a The Role of Echad dx'a #2 dx'a echad #1 yhiy yaha yhiy yaha is another particle. (between) Not a preposition but a conjunction A conjunction is used to connect two words, sentences, phrases, or clauses together

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 66 Conjunctions in Hebrew In English, we say, “John and Mary went to the park.” In Hebrew, this would be “And John and Mary went to the park.” “And John and. Mary went to the park.”

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 77 yhiy The Role of yaha yhiy 1. 5:21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. 2. 5:22 And walked Enoch with Elohim after he begat Methuselah 300 years, and begat sons and daughters. Conjunctions join phrases yhiy.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 22 yhiy The Role of yaha yhiy 3.Therefore (thus), all the days of Enoch were 65 years (v21) + 300 years (v22). What just happened? 5:23 does not follow chronologically after vs. 21 & 22. Rather, it gives a brief summary exactly how long Enoch’s life was. It does this by using the conjunction yaha yhiy to combine the previous two phrases.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 23 yhiy The Role of yaha yhiy What we have seen is a sub-section of two verses that tell the events of a man’s life and then concludes with the following statement: Therefore (thus, summarizing, in summary), the days of X were Y years This is performed on the two verses (phrases) by the use of a conjunction.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 24 yhiy The Role of yaha yhiy This happens 8 other times in Genesis 5 making a total of 9 and they are all the same. Now, let’s break down Genesis 1:5 in the same way. After that, we will look at witness #2, echad dx'a

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 25 Genesis 1:5a ~Ay rAal‘ ~yhil{a/ ar'q.YIw: day light Elohim called And hl'y>l' ar'q' %v,xol;w night called darkness And

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 30 Genesis 1:5b ~Ay rAal‘ ~yhil{a/ ar'q.YIw: day light Elohim called And hl'y>l' ar'q' %v,xol;w night called darkness And dx'a, ~Ay rq,bo - yhiy>w: br,[,- yhiy>w :: one day morning ??? Evening ???

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 31 Genesis 1:5b ~Ay rAal‘ ~yhil{a/ ar'q.YIw: day light Elohim called And hl'y>l' ar'q' %v,xol;w night called darkness And dx'a, ~Ay rq,bo - yhiy>w: br,[,- yhiy>w :: one day morning ??? Evening ???

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 32 Genesis 1:5 ~Ay rAal‘ ~yhil{a/ ar'q.YIw: day light Elohim called And hl'y>l' ar'q' %v,xol;w night called darkness And dx'a, ~Ay rq,bo - yhiy>w: br,[,- yhiy>w :: one day morning ??? Evening ???

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 33 Conjunctions in Hebrew In Hebrew, this would be “And John and Mary went to the park.”

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 34 Genesis 1:5b dx'a, ~Ay rq,bo - yhiy>w: br,[,- yhiy>w:: one day morning ??? Evening ??? Here’s a conjunction joining two words together, making a compound unity. What about witness #2, echad? What do we know about echad? It is a marker for a compound unity. Could be “one” or “first”, like Genesis 2:11

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 35 Genesis 1:5b dx'a, ~Ay rq,bo - yhiy>w: br,[,- yhiy>w:: one day morning ??? Evening ??? It is a marker for a compound unity. What’s being combined that we know was previously separated? Light and Darkness, represented here by their called names, evening and morning. Joined together, they make a “yom”.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 36 One More Point The Sentence in Biblical Hebrew by F.I. Anderson, p.129, states for verse 5 that the structure denotes a unity from multiple parts. This is in existence without regard to Echad.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 47 Might We Have a Third Witness? What figure of speech are we talking about? Synecdoche From this Greek word συνεκδοχή meaning “simultaneous understanding” Part of something is used to refer to the whole thing In Daniel, the part is two parts of a 24 hour time period

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 48 Might We Have a Third Witness? What about Genesis 1:5? Since we know that br,[, rq,B can be a Synecdoche, that is, a part for the whole, could this be another occurrence of that figure of speech?

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 55 mplications

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 56 Issues A 12 hour time period of light which begins (and is) the ~Ay Either night time can be referred to as part of a “24 hour time period” called day or it can’t.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 57 First Century People KJV Mark 1:32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. KJV Luke 4:40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 58 Paul Acts 27 and a ship taking Paul to Italy v21-26 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, “An angel told me that everything will be all right but we will lose the ship so everyone be of good cheer.” v27 But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were tossed to and fro in the rough seas, about midnight…

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 59 Paul v29 Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day v32 Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 60 Paul v33a Paul kept on exhorting them until dawn began to come on saying… [WP] v33b This day

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 61 Paul v33a Paul kept on exhorting them until dawn began to come on saying… [WP] v33b This day is the fourteenth day… The night that previously ended was the 14 th night and now we have the 14 th day. However, if we go back to “it was still night”, then night was called “this day”.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 62 Yeshua Last Supper, captured by all four authors KJV Matthew 26:20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve. Had a meal, feet washing, hymn singing, traveled to the mount of Olives, talked more… including all of John 13 – 17 (talking and praying) = “night”

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 63 Yeshua KJV Matthew 26:34 Yeshua said unto him, “Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.”

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 64 Yeshua KJV Matthew 26:34 Yeshua said unto him, “Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.” KJV Luke 22:34 And he said, “I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.”

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 65 Yeshua KJV Mark 14:30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. KJV John 14:10b The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me… 15:15b for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 66 he Ten Commandments

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 67 Peter and the Disciples KJV Luke 5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, “Master, we have toiled all the night…” KJV John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, “I go a fishing.” They say unto him, “We also go with thee.” They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 68 Peter and the Disciples What is the problem? Exodus 20:9 KJV Exodus 20:9 Six “day light portions” shalt thou labour, and do “all” thy work.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 69 Nehemiah Nehemiah 13:19 And it came to pass, that when the evening shadows began to lengthen at the gates of Jerusalem before the Sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 70 Nehemiah From earlier in Nehemiah, we know that the gate is shut when it is dark. 7:3 There are no shadows after sunset yet in this case, there were shadows so sunset had not occurred yet. Why the emphasis to close the gates several minutes early if the Sabbath was not beginning until sunrise?

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 71 Creation Conflicts Ex. 20:11 "For in six days (DLPs) Yahweh made the heavens and the earth… No He didn’t!

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 72 Feast of Unleavened Bread 1. Exodus 12:15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread… 2. Exodus 13:6 Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread… 3. Exodus 13:7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days… 4. Exodus 23:15 thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days…

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 73 Feast of Unleavened Bread 5. Leviticus 23:6 seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. 6. Numbers 28:17 seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten. 7. Deuteronomy 16:3 seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread… It appears that this is teaching that I can eat leavened bread each night. True?

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 74 Feast of Unleavened Bread Exodus 12:19 Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses. Deuteronomy 16:4 And there shall be no leavened bread seen with thee in all thy borders seven days. From these restrictions it teaches that as long as leaven is not found in my house or the borders of Israel during daylight hours, I’m good.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 75 Feast of Unleavened Bread BUT… Exodus 12:15 …for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day d[ the seventh day… Exodus 12:18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, d[ the one and twentieth day of the month at even.

January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 76 One More Thing(s) Paul’s use of nucqh,meron in II Corinthians 11:25 is like “mean solar day” for us. Doesn’t work in Alaska Recent Rabbinical ruling for spacecraft traveler was 24 hours. – Makes sense There are many more but this evidence presents a case

The evidence exists that ~Ay is sometimes a 12 hour time period, sometimes a 24 hour time period, and sometimes an amount of time that is not defined. January 7, 2011 http://hodf.org 77
