2 How to write a CV – content of a CV The CV gives a full account of the candidate´s education qualifications experience It should not be longer than one page. Note: A photo is not included in the UK or the USA.

4 Content of a CV – Personal data What do you write in the first part of your CV called PERSONAL DATA/INFORMATION? 1Address 2Telephone number 3 address 4Age (date and place of birth) 5Marital status 6Nationality Note: To prevent discrimination, there is very little personal information (i.e. regarding sex, marital status, religion) in British or American CVs.

5 Content of a CV – Education What do you write in the second part of your CV called EDUCATION? Give details of your school carrier and your college or university qualifications. State subjects and grade in final exam.

6 Content of a CV – Job/Work Experience What do you write in the third part of your CV called JOB/WORK EXPERIENCE? State where and when you trained for a job. Mention work experience including practicals or internships.

7 Content of a CV – Job/Work experience What do you write in the fourth part of your CV called SKILLS AND ACTIVITIES? State other qualifications and skills that may be helpful in your job - languages (reached levels) - IT skills - training courses relevant for the job - interests and spare time activities

8 Content of a CV – References What do you write in the fifth part of your CV called REFERENCES? You do not have to have any references from your former employers. On the other hand they can help you to get a job. Note: British and American CVs usually have the following sentence at the bottom of the page: ´References supplied on request´. This is because employers do not normally write references. Instead, they usually give a reference when asked.

9 Content of a CV Note: CVs are not signed or dated. They often provide the information in reverse chronological order, i.e. starting with the most recent events and then going back.
